Shutter button won't work!

My camera got wet in the rain and after a few hours ceased to work properly - the shutter button won't work and the camera now only takes photographs after taking a video, when it videos then automatically takes a photo.
I have tried leaving the camera in a warm cupboard to dry out but it's been a few weeks and there's been no change.

Help please!!!

The water or the water vapour is still in it. So did you try to open the cover and leave it again in a worm and dry room. especially leave it under the sun behind the window. I think it will work now.

I have a Canon PowerShot SD1000 and it turns on, but the screen is blank. It will upload any photos taken (although you can't see what pics you take), but even then you have to click the button on the...

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.
By the way, my wife happens to own a SD1000. Great little camera, but it's prone to stuck shutter every once and a while. Easily fixed each time though by simply opening the battery door while on, and gently flicking the lens barrel a few times. Again, see the link.

I am looking to learn how to set the camera to take a sequence of delayed shots..how do I do this..?

The camera shoots continuously while the shutter button is held down.

there are three options for it

Continuous(Approx. 4.0 img/sec)

Shooting AF (Approx. 1.1 img per secnd)

Shooting LV (1.2 images per secnd)
(Live View)

Press teh shutter button.
Use up and down buttons to select the shooting modes.
The camera will continue to reord continous images as long as the shutter button is held down.
The taking will cease when it is released.

I am going to buy a replacement shutter for my nikon n90s camera because mine recentely broke...but i need to know how to replace it. It looks like the entire shutter (my shutter blade broke) but I am not...

If you are paying more than 50$ for the shutter unit, it probably is not worth the time. I looked at what used N90s bodies sell for on eBay, and most sell for under 100$.

The job of replacing the shutter really only requires 3 tools. A cross point screwdriver, (with a metric tip rather than the US sizes), a pair of tweezers and a soldering iron. An anti-static mat for electronics work is also advisable.

You will be removing all of the covers on the camera, then several interal screws, plates, pressure connectors with some de-soldering on bridge connections to separate the circuitry. Most of the screws are different lengths and sizes, and need to be put back in the proper holes. The circuitry is very delicate and can tear easily with a wrong move.

If this sounds like something you would like to attempt, I can elaborate further. I've replaced a few shutters in the N90s. A few took about an hour, but not always.

Iphone got wet. camera shutter is stuck closed

you might have a lot of corrosion inside your phone.

try to open it up and clean it very well with alcohol.

the main camera does not work probably because of corrosion on its connector to the main board.

see the picture I took a few days ago:

Continuous mode

i think the frame rate is 1.3 frames per second.

Issue:
How do I set Continuous Shooting?
Solution: Setting Continuous Shooting mode PowerShot SD750 and SD1000.

Continuous Shooting In this mode, the camera shoots continuously while the shutter button is held down. Recording ceases when the shutter button is released. In addition, under the following conditions, continuous shooting can occur at a consistent interval until the SD card is full*.
  • A resolution and compression combination other than 145.gif and 129.gif is selected.
    * If continuous shooting suddenly stops, the SD card may be full.
Continuous shooting is available in all modes except 171.gif[AUTO], stitch_assist_icon.gif[Stitch Assist], coloraccentdropper.gif[Color Accent] and colorswapdropper.gif[Color Swap].
To set Continuous Shooting
  1. Press the cont_icon.gifbutton to display cont_icon.gif.

    cont_menu.gif
  2. Shoot the image.

The camera will continue to record successive images while the shutter button is fully pressed. Recording will cease when the shutter button is released, the card is full or the card does not support a write speed to allow continuous shooting to continue.
To Cancel Continuous Shooting
  1. Press the cont_icon.gif button twice to display single_icon.gif.
caution_a70.gifTo enhance the continuous shooting performance when you suspect the speed has dropped, you are recommended to format the SD card in the camera (Low Level Format) after you save all its images to your computer. note_icon_a70.gif
  • The interval between shots may lengthen slightly when the camera's built-in memory fills.
  • If the flash is firing, the interval between shots will lengthen to accommodate the flash's charging requirements.

D50 won't take a picture!

I was having the same problem.. And since I could not afford to take it to the shop, I tried everything I could think of...
Then I fixed it!!
It seems that the slide door behind the shutter was stuck for some reason... If you remove the lens.. (make sure the camera is in manual mode)... snap a shot so the shutter is up.. then gently slide the panel in the back down....
Once I did that.. the camera was working again.... Hope this easy solution works for you guys....
