This could be an auto picture feature not working correctly with the wide lens view you will want to go into your tv settings menu and make sure nothing is set to auto and than configure it so this no longer happens be prepared to spend about an hour getting familiar with each option so you understand which is doing what exactly

hope this helps

When I take pictures at night or in the house when it's darker they don't come out clear or bright. I've tried changing the settings and used the flash. I would appreciate you help. Thanks

Most of the present day personal cameras cannot have a good flash output and so the THROW of light is limited, So when it is used for night shots try and use the flash as close as possible to the SUBJECT as the flash will not COVER THE SUBJECT if FAR away.
This can be the reason for the poor shots. Also try to manually set the camera for higher sensitivity .Use of a SLAVE flash will improve your shots. You can buy this as an accessory.

I need advice on how to take Ice-hockey action pics...

Pictures get blurred because of several reasons:

Low shutter speed - occurs in low lightning conditions.
Auto focus not focused - occurs when pressing the shutter button all the way without waiting for the auto focus ready signal (green box)

To speed up the shutter do the following:
In Camera menu-Quality- Set ISO 100 for outdoor, ISO 400 indoor.

To avert focus problems, set camera menu-Rec- Focus-Infinity, Rec-Quick shutter-On

Hope that helps.
