I HAVE THE LEXMARK ALL IN ONE X6170. IT WAS INSTALLED ON A COMPUTER I USE TO HAVE AND NOW I HAVE A NEW COMPUTER BUT I DON'T HAVE THE DISK TO INSTALL THE PRINTER TO THE NEW COMPUTER. WHAT CAN I DO?

Yes, I also have a problem installing my printer. I had it a long time installed on pc with xp....I 've now bought a new pc that has Vista. I tried to install twice with my cd...couldn't....saw your posting, and as I write, am trying to install again thru "add hardware" without the cd....problem is, it's taking an extremely long time. Could it be it's not compatible with Vista?

I do not know what operating system you are using, But most including Windows Vista and Windows XP are plug and play. That means that they will detect and set up your printer automatically. If it does not do so, when you connect the printer, just go into control panel and select add new hardware.

Just visit the website of lexmark to download the driver of your lexmark X6170. Search X6170 driver then download it. After you download you may now install the said driver to used your printer again....DONE

Here is the link to the Lexmark website to download the drivers. http://bit.ly/b0XDka . If your computer is Vista or Windows 7, check if it's running on 32-bit or 64-bit operating system by clicking on the Windows logo Start menu > right click on Computer > Properties. By the way, for Windows 7, use the Vista driver. It is compatible with it. Printer is not compatible with Macintosh.

Lexmark x6170 printer wont work for viast. I have the disk. Installed for xp. need upgraded driver. Went to lexmark and downloaded upgraded driver. installed. It wants a cd to upgrade driver to vista. Help

Cd lost

Lexmark does not distribute replacement install disk for all models.

Contact Lexmark here, to see if the disk for your printer is available.

If you do not have the disk you must download the software from Internet, follow instructions below,

Click here:Official Lexmark Drivers and Software

A web page will open, follow instructions, select model, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
After downloading, find the file,double click on the file ,then if you get in troubles, follow the instructions below to reset and reinstall drivers:

Unplug printer USB.
Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
Download driver from website, or use the disk and run the install file.
Follow driver installation wizard.
Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.

Note:some printerdoes not work on Vista, if you do not find any driver download for Vista on your model page, that means your model is not Vista compatible.
