Printer does not recognize new ink cartridge

Even though I've replaced an ink cartridge it tells me it is empty. The printer also recently told me that this same color was not an HP ink cartridge (out of the blue; I wasn't even putting a new one in at the time). So it won't let me print in color since it thinks this cartridge is empty.

Are you using "refilled" hp cartridges? If so, they may be interpreted as "empty" or a non-hp cartridge if the carrtidge shell was manufactured prior to the recent time that hp began coding the electrics on the same type cartridges. This can also happen if you are using "compatibles". If this is the case, try buying original new hp carts. If that is what you already have, return the cart to the store as defective and as for a replacement.

Kodak ESP3 printer does not recognize new printer cartridge

This model printer may only let you use genuine printer cartridges. If you try to refill these ink cartridges it will not work because the cartridges have an embedded chip in the cartridge that detects the empty cartridge even though it has been refilled.

Epson Workforce 600 not recognizing black toner

I had the same problem and was told by the store that sold it to me that some printer manufacturers do this on purpose as they make their most money on the ink they sell not the printer. I got rid of mine and purchased an ink jet black only printer as this is all I need anyway. A lot cheaper to use.

Epson Printers are sensitive in terms of Ink Cartridges.. The latest Epson Printers does not have ink reseter.. Ink reseter are already built-in on the ink cartridges.. The problem on this printer is when you have a cartridge on your printer, let say, 30% of the ink level, even though your ink is new, and you change it without using the right ink replacement method, it will recognize your ink as a 30% ink level. When your ink level drops to 0%, but you have remaining 70% of the ink, it does not recognize it anymore. The chip on the ink cartridge is already registered as an empty cartridge.

Make sure the protective tape covering the new cartridge has been COMPLETELY removed then reinsert. Your printer should tell you that a new cartridge is inserted and ask to print a test page, align etc. Otherwise your cartridge may have a faulty chip which simply wont read.
In which case you need to return it and get a replacement.

Exactly the same frustrating problem. New cartridge = no ink

Two possible causes..

1. The cartridge chip is telling the printer that it's expired

or..

2. The rubber bulb in the base of the cartridge can be pushed all the way in without any ink leaving the cartridge. If that's the case the non-return valve in the cartridge itself has failed. This condition results in the printer thinking it's empty so you need to take the cartridge back to the supplier and get a replacement.

Hope that helps even if I've missed a third possibility.

Not recognize ink cartrdige Canon 6700D

Best thing to do is just replace the the indicated ink cartridge. Reason being is that even though the cartridge still has ink in it, it is the metal contacts on the cartridge that have to communicate with the printers on-board memory. If the contacts on the cartridge are fouled and are not communicating with the printer, the cartridge is telling the printer that "I am empty and I need to be replaced", even if it is full of ink. This would apply to all six cartridges.
