I have a Roper gas dryer model # RGX3514PQ0. It is not heating. The drum turns. It blows air out of the vent. I read other posts about no heat problems and decided to replace the thermal fuse. It still does not heat. I looked in the hole in the front of the dryer and turned it on to see if it's heating/burning. It does nothing. There are no clicking sounds when I press start. Any other suggestions? I don't have a voltage meter, but would love an excuse to get one. Can someone walk me through eliminating different issues/parts? There was a post by fixallphil and he suggested gas valve coils and ignitors. How do I check those?
Thanks for your help!!!!
Hay Bud, you have an excellent excuse to buy a multimeter congratulations.. when you do, access the burner assembly and controller circuit board, on your disassembley you will likely find a wiring diagram, this will be very helpful in diagnosing your fault, let me know when you have the meter and the diagram and i will step you through the diagnostic proses.
this is a good one for obtaining parts for your dryer, but you must have some direction as to what wire dose what and where it goes, the control board or ignitor board listed in the parts is most likely the culprit , to diagnose this unit you must define where the power comes in, the burner over temp sensor is, gas valve enable, and flame on sensor is,
check to make certain there is power going to the board using your meter, then using the ohms scale of your new meter again set to ohms and check to see if there is continuity across the gas valve connections, if all is good set meter back to volts and engage the dryer, as the test probes are on the connections at the gas valve if not find the over temp sensor and check using ohms scale to verify continuity if this is reading as if the test probes are connected together your Ignitor board is defective and needs replacing, well this should help you good luck, let me know how you did

Hi,
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.
if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....
If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.
check out this electric no heat tip...

I got the meter! But I can't find a diagram. does a diagram of the parts help? Sears has the dryer parts diagram online at:
