My xbox 360 controller will not connect to my xbox but it will connect to my friends xbox

Hi Chris, can you please check this setting:

1. Go to "System Settings" on your Xbox 360.
2. Select "Kinect Settings".
3. Choose "Chat Microphone".

Connect a wireless Xbox controller

1. Turn on your console.
2. Press and hold the Guide button on the controller until the controller turns on.

On the Xbox 360 S console, each connected controller is assigned to one of four positions. Each position corresponds to a lighted section around the console power button and the controller Guide button. On the 360 E console, a solid green light on the front of the console indicates that the controller is connected. To determine the player position associated with your accessory, look at the ring of light that surrounds the Guide button on the controller.

If the controller does not turn on, check the batteries. Insert fresh AA batteries, making sure they are correctly positioned in the battery case.
You can also use the Xbox 360 Play & Charge Kit or the Xbox 360 Quick Charge Kit to power the controller. Learn more about Xbox controllers and chargers.
To connect additional controllers, follow these same steps again. You can connect up to four controllers to the console. Each connected controller is assigned a position that corresponds with the lighted sections that appear around the console's power button and around the Guide button located in the middle of each controller.

• To disconnect a wireless controller, press and hold the Guide button for three seconds, and then choose to turn the controller off.
• When you turn off the console, the controller will reconnect the next time you turn on the console.
• The controller can be connected to only one console at a time. You can connect the controller to a different console, but the connection to the previously connected console will be lost.

Connect a wired Xbox controller
Plug the Xbox 360 Wired Controller into a USB port on the Xbox 360 console. There are two USB ports on the front of the console. To disconnect the controller, pull on the connector, not the cable.
The cable on the Xbox 360 Wired Controller has an inline release. The inline release on the controller cable is a safety feature designed to reduce the chance of the Xbox 360 console falling if the cable is pulled.
Wireless controller troubleshooting
If your wireless controller disconnects or cannot connect to your console, see Xbox 360 Wireless Controller disconnects or can't connect.
If your wireless controller does not turn on or loses power, try the following solutions:
Solution 1: Replace the batteries
Insert a new set of AA alkaline batteries into the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, and then try to turn it on.
Solution 2: Try a different battery pack
If you have another Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, take the battery pack off that controller and attach it to your controller. Then try to turn your controller on.
If your controller works with the different battery pack, your original battery pack might be defective. If your controller is under warranty, you can order a replacement battery pack from Xbox Support . See the Assistance section at the bottom of this page for more information.
If your controller is out of warranty, you can buy a new battery pack from a retail store.
Solution 3: Try a rechargeable battery packIf you or a friend has an Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack, attach that battery pack to your controller and try to use your controller. If your controller works with the rechargeable battery pack attached, you can buy a new battery pack from a retail store or order a replacement battery pack from Xbox Support. Hmmm.....that's sounds weird. The controllers are passive devices. They shouldn't change as far as hardware behavior because they're just that - hardware. Unless the one you have has some sort of CMOS programmable feature? I've never heard of that before. The only recommendation I have is to check the pins on the plug - maybe the old xBox damaged a pin.

Set up your Xbox Live connection by connecting your Xbox 360 to high-speed Internet. There are two options: connecting it to your network via Ethernet cable or connecting to your network via a wireless adapter. The simplest and fastest connection is connecting via Ethernet cable directly to your modem or router. If you must connect wirelessly, use the Xbox 360 wireless adapter, sold separately. Test your Xbox Live connection after connecting your Xbox 360 to your high-speed Internet. Navigate to the dashboard, select "My Xbox," choose "System Settings" then "Network Settings." Run the diagnostic test to confirm your connection works. Your Xbox 360 will offer troubleshooting tips if the test fails.

Create an Xbox Live gold account. Log out of all profiles then press the "Guide" button and choose "Join Xbox Live." Follow the prompts, entering your billing and personal information. You will also choose your gamertag during this process, which will serve as your online name and identity. Lastly, you will customize your profile. Your Xbox 360 will then create the account.

Insert your Xbox Live multiplayer game and open the game's Xbox Live multiplayer menu. Different games have different options but certain features remain the same across all multiplayer games. There is the TrueSkill ranked matchmaking system, which pits you against players of similar skill levels. There are also unranked player matches, where you can practice and hone your skills in a non-competitive atmosphere. Lastly, there is the quickmatch matchmaking system, which automatically searches for games for you, whether they are unranked or ranked.

Add and play with friends. Xbox Live allows users to add up to 100 friends. Add a friend by pressing the "Guide" button, navigating to the "Friends" tab, then selecting "Add Friend." Type in your friend's gamertag then press the "Start" button and choose "Send Friend Request." Your friend will need to confirm the request to complete the process. You can play multiplayer games with friends by opening your friends list and inviting them to a game lobby.

Communicate with friends and opponents using an Xbox 360 headset. The wired Xbox 360 plugs into your controller. Once it's plugged in, you can speak into microphone and listen to others from the ear piece.

take them to a friends house and see if they recognize them. this should tell you. also bring a friends controller and plug into your deck

um you cant connect from a xbox 360 to a other 360 to go online youll need to be hooked up to the internet directly

make sure u both have gold and make sure ur network doesnt have strict security

have you tried to pair it... the little white button on both the controller and the 360? works just like the wii remote
