Hi is that you want to replace the existing keyboard from your mom's laptop ? if so right above the keyboard you will find a removable plastic panel (it is fragile breaks very easily so be carefull ) which would secured in place with snap on plastic locks or 3 screws would be securing it in place which you can see on the rear of the laptop , if the battery compartment is under the top portion then remove the battery you can see these screws . In any case please take your OWN TIME TO ANALYZE and only then attempt this. If you are succesfull in doing this then remove the other screws visible that holds the KB in place and lift up the KB slowly because the connecting cable is flexible PCB and you could easily TEAR IT OFF if you pull hard . The Connector also needs lot of attention - very thin and small release the side catches by lifting it with a watch screw driver very slowly else you will end up breaking it . If you have come to this stage GREAT replacing KB is reverse of all this procedure.

Check num lock key of laptop press num lock if numlock key is on and off when you press it then dispaly working fine only issue with screen resolution .
For that when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in enable vga mode.
Then go to start menu ->control panel->display->settings.
Change screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply and ok.
But if num lock is constant when you press numlock key then you need to refix RAM memory.Open back cover of laptop then refix RAM memory.
Then check if still same issue then pull cmos cell from motherboard then check again if still same then try with another RAM .
When you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or "del" key if you are able to see bios screen then you not need to open back cover of laptop only make sure SATA is disabled and your harddrive is detected in bios.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.
