Hi there, I have an SP54T6HPX/XSA model Samsung Tantus rear projection TV. It recently had a new main board put in to rectify a colour convergence problem, all went well until i turned it on and there was no volume at all. I tried different AV cables and a different input divice but still no sound. Any suggestions or should I cut my losses and put it in the bin???

If this is a tube set--and it sounds like it it--it likely needs convergence chips. IF the color and picture was ok before this happened--it is worth a look, but if it was getting dull and fuzzy, BEFORE the convergence problem--it needs tubes and is NOT worth repair.

this section here deals with the convergence but their are other things in the settings that can cause this so download your own full copy Regards Vortash

you will need to open the unit and have to replace the stk ic located on the main board to make the colours proper.as it will not cost u too much but proper technician is required if you yourself does not have proper technical knowledge.its risky and dangerous but not at all costly. thanks.

Check this website to buy the entire convergence amplifier board. Replacing the entire boars is a DIY since there isn't any soldering involve only open back cover of the TV and unplug a few wires to remove the old board and install the new one. Keep in mind that this board could be used or reburbished.
Samsung no longer has the assembly.

the convergence board has nothing to do with tuning of tv, the convergence board put three colour gun (red, green, blue) to work with each other, else you get three image, of red , green,  blue or mixture of all as seperate image, the convergence board for american tv and Australian tv is possibly the same what you check to see the board  part number is the same you possibly need to see if the convergence board has got the memory i.c. if that is the case, you need to tune you t.v reset the channel etc good luck.

Hi. Did the ngineer say that it was problem with convergence pcb ? To be honest the lil git hitting the screen is more likely to damage the screen than convergence. Try going in to the menu then convergence & adjust red & blue to try & get the crosses white with no coloured halo around. Post on here with results your model of tv is pretty straight forward I work for an indepedent tv repair shop the manuals are easy to get hold of thats if he even needs one. Chris..

i know this is a old problem but in case anyone in the future here has this problem, the problem lies in your convergence board ,mainly the stk`s are shot ,you can buy new STK`s for around 15 to 20 dollars and then will need some one to take old ones of and resoldering the new ones on.

anywho if you have this problem unplug or remove your convergence board and then turn on tv and you will see a picture, all colours will be out of convergence but when you put the fixed board back in colours should realign, or you may have to realign a little yourself.

only reason i am posting on this old problem is because was just given this tv samsung hcn473wx/xac for free and decided to fix it and it now works well.
