Digital slr camera

This might seem like an odd question, but I was curious as how to focus on a certain object with my canon digital rebel xti. I want to get the blurred background effect but no luck. :(

You'll need to use your camera in manual mode.

If you want the subject sharp, but the background blurred, use a large aperture and high speed exposure. This will reduce the focal length.

Remember that a large apertures are often used for night shots because they allow more light through the lense. A fast exposure will prevent the shot from being over exposed if you are taking it in daylight.

Flash photography is not recommended for the effect you are after.

Yes, the ISO speed refers to the speed of the shutter.

Try experimenting with fast speeds and large apertures. If you can use a tripod and remote release, it will help.

Good luck and thanks for the Fixya!

Digital Rebel XT / EOS 350D Digital Camera with EF-S 18-55mm Lens: my rebel xti won't shoot a macro shot. There's pl...

There is a minimal focusing distance for all lenses. If you move closer to the subject than that distance then the camera won't focus on it. Check you lens manual for minimal focusing distance. It is 11 inches for Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 USM, for example.

Canon rebel xti digital camera mem. card will not lock into place

It seems that the CF reader mechanical assembly part has loose or out of place an internal part.

It may be caused by excessive force in pushing/pulling a CF memory card, or due to a manufacturing issueof the camera.

The solution is to open the camera, and check what is causing the problem and fix it.

If it's under warranty, I do recommend you to return it. If not, then you will need to pay for its repair, or do it yourself if you have experience, skills and patience in fixing electronic devices.

Such repair will require some philips screwdrivers, a soldering iron, soldering wire, and a st of tweezers.

There are in internet some guides to open and disassembly Canon XT 350D or Rebel 300d cameras. The disassembly process with the XTi 400D is very similar. You can Google fr such guidelines.

Tamron lens for Xti?

if it is an auto focus lens that works on one eos camera, it should work on almost all of them. the only known exception is that some high end extenders will not fit the eos1dmarkII as it protrudes into the opening too far.
but a good rule is that if it fits without any obstruction issues, it should work. try cleaning contacts on the lens and camera body. if that doesn't fix it, talk to Tamron. you can use it manually, but will not be as easy and you would get less predictable results.

my suggestion is to always go with lens from camera maker.

sounds like there is an issue with the tamron lens. not the camera.
good luck

Is my canon eos 400d broken?

This is a Digital SLR With SLR cameras you can only use the viewfinder because the image comesi nto the lens and up to the viewfinder via a mirror. When to take a pic the mirror flips up[usually with a crash] and the image goes to the CCD- afterwards you will get an image briefly in the LCD.
