Just to clarify a G5 is not a Pro or "desktop Pro" (Mac Pro is an Intel based machine). Yours is a "Power Mac". Install a temp monitoring app to see the temperature (mainly the CPU temps). Mine runs around 50 to 60 Celsius and never more than 72. If the temps run to high she will shut down. G5 are great machines but it's not rare for them to go bad. Power supply issues and liquid coolant leaks are well know. Fans controllers have stopped working (the fans them selves are usually OK).

Windows keeps shutting down unexpectedly

Your computer is overheating, it is shutting itself down to prevent damage to the internal components.

Your computer should be serviced by a computer technician. He/she will clean the components and chassis of dust. This will increase airflow over the components, meaning your system will be stable and will not shut down unexpectedly.

Take care!

Hi,

I suggest try to check these things on your machine.

->Check if the machine is Overheating.
->Check which part of the machine is Overheating.
->See if the Fan of the machine is Running(Feel if the air vent of the machine)

Cause of Automatic Shutdown:
-Memory
-Hard Drive
-Fan is not working

Most likely those are the cause of the machine keeps on shutting down unexpectedly.

Sometimes this can be caused with memory problems Reseat the memory by switching off the G5 then take out the memory and replace it back. It could be that it is slightly loose. Hope this helps.

Unexpected shutdown with fresh battery ...only cycled 23 times so far. Mac shuts down after about 3 minutes....then shuts down on boot sequence after that. No warning...just shuts down instantly. Macbook...

"Shuts down instantly without warning" is the hallmark of a faulty battery. "All five lights on" is meaningless, as batteries with this fault go from 100% to 0% in a finger-snap. Assuming your battery is under warranty, it should be replaced at no charge.
