It is just an eol (End Of Live) in the software of your ds card.
Plug out your ds and remove your r4 card.
Plug on your ds and change the date to 2009.
Plug out your ds and insert your r4 cart.
Plug on your ds and you can play again.
Now there wil be new software on the internet who is an update on the old software, so if you want to renew your software ist there on the net.

Yesterday (31/April) I was doing a Google search on the R4i "System Date Error" problem and found the solution! Check out this blog post:

http://www.nds-gear.co.uk/blog/2010/05/nds-gear-solves-r4i-sdhc-system-date-error-problem/

Follow the instructions and use their software (for genuine R4i-SDHC cards only of course) and problem should be solved! Worked for me on a regular DSi console with the original R4i SDHC card, 4GB memory.

SOURCE: Message " System date error! Please check NDS system date"

I read that changing the date to 28.09.2009 should work, as this happened to me today too... and it worked. Very weird, but try it anyway :)

System error please check nds system date

Remove all game cards from your NDS, turn it ON then touch the small NDS button and set the date. If you still get the same error message, set the YEAR about 2 years earlier (2009).

Sounds the new error that's come up for R4i SDHC . The new update should fix it or you can rollback your date on your DS.

My ds lite R4 card has a message when switched on saying System date error! Please check NDS system date. How can I fix this?

Hey,

A System Date Error is a problem with the firmware. There is more information at the blog here as well as a link to the system date error fix! I think you can avoid a lot of problems like that by getting an Acekard . It's worked perfectly for me for months now :).

I had the same problem. I fixed it correcting system date *before* the real date ( 1 day before in my case). It worked!!
