My GE GSS25TGP is stopped working. The food

Yes this is complicated for me.
But in case my method works for you here it is:
Turn off the freezer and empty it. Depends on the time of the year where to put the things you take out of the freezer.
Put boiling water in cooking pots, the pots inside the freezer and have a lot of towels handy when the melting begins.
When all the "frost" has melted and still no power on the freezer, clean it well and take a knitting needle and try to put it in the hole in the middle of the waterline. Usually some muck comes out. Leave it like that and put everything that you are going to keep,in the freezer again.
The power on and hope for the best, which usually happens.

The most likely problem is your=> WR09X10103 Defrost Timer and that is located inside and behind the fresh food compartments control panel here=> GTS22KBP The second likely problem will be found inside the freezer and behind the rear wall where you say see the frost building and the part will be the=> WR51X10038 Defrost Heater Assembly



Part location 618 in this photo here=> HERE and it is always a good idea to change the defrost thermostat=> WR50X10015 Defrost Thermostat Both of these parts have detailed instructions included on testing while at the links listed. The defrost timer can be slowly turned clockwise until the compressor and fans stops. Allow up to 30 minutes for the freezer to defrost and many can be heard beginning about one minute after stopping compressor and fans by opening the freezer door and listening for the sounds of crackling or sizzling and take care that if there is a lot of un melted ice be repaired to clean it/water melted that may run over onto your homes flooring. changing temp sensors may cure problem (cheapest route first)

Look on the back panel inside the freezer for ice beginning to show. Most times when this happens the fresh food section is the first to notice. Your refrigerator has a control board on the back. If not defrosting the air flow to the fresh food section is greatly reduced. Let me know, Sea Breeze

Hi: Your defrost heater or defrost timer is bad. There is an off chance your freezer or fresh food compartment are so full they block the airflow. If not full, Remove the food from the freezer, unplug the ref. and hit the back wall of the freezer with a hair dryer. Avoid plastic components as they will melt. When your defrost mechanism fails frost will form where it shouldnt and block the airway to the fresh food compartment. That's why the freezer still works. That will get you a week or two of fresh food getting cold. If your'e handy remove the back panel of the freezer at the bottom will be a glass tube with a metal coil in it. If the coil is broken buy the new defrost heater and install it. If not look for a defrost timer. Use the model number of the refrigerator to find the part. www.searspartsdirect.com will have a parts schematic to help you find out where the timer is located. one of the hardest things to diagnous is food defrosting in the freezer. i found out the hard way about 35 years ago, but not until i banged my head against the wall a few times. the problem was the customer didn't have enough food in the freezer as she was a weekender.frozen food needs frozen food to keep the food frozen confused? so was i . every time your refrigerator goes into defrost( usually every 8 hours) a heating coil comes on in the back of the freezer. if the freezer is not full enough this heater can raise the temperature in the freezer to 40 degrees which will soften the food and melt the ice considering the time it takesto refreeze the food. i never forgot that service in fact i can see it in my head right now.. try this cure first let me know

with min. toubleshootin. remove food store else where. Unplug unit. mop up water from ice melting. after 12 hour plug back in. If this work let me know. And I let U know step 2. Good luck.

the back panel inside the freezer has screws in it. take out the screws to remove that panel. the coils are behind that. melt all the frost. youll see one or 2 heating elements in there also. replace the elements. its a common ge problem. this will fix the problem
