What is the lock/unlock when you open the battery compartment on a shure wireless mic? I can't get my mic to work. The transmitter is ligthting up and the chanels are scanning but light on mic won't turn on. I tried new batteries as well.
On some mics, one of the lights will NOT turn on unless the battery is low. The mic is the transmitter, so I am not sure what you mean by it not lighting, but the transmitter is lighting?
Make sure the mic's freq. is within the scanned range of the receivers. Often the mics get mixed with other receivers and the resulting pair are incompatible.
The receiver should show if signal is being received. If it is, then the module in the microphone dynamic cartridge MIGHT have been damaged. If it is damaged, it has to be replaced.
OK... The mic should have a green light if it is on... I don't know which model you have. If the green light doesn't come on the transmitter is probably NOT getting power. Check the battery connections... as I recall the negative connection on these mics where the battery goes can get broken or sprung open and not make contact. We have that problem at our church. Inspect both contacts. Until we get the green light on it won't work... The module is probably OK. Also look for corrosion on the terminals.
The receiver will scan until it locks to the transmitter in the mic.

The receiver is lighting up i guess is what i meant. It scans thru the channels, etc. We used the mic for a awhile and then stored it (not in the case) and now it is not working. I seem to remember the green light on the mic coming on when it was working and then you could mute in and the light would go orange. So how do i find out if the cartirdge is the problem?
