check the speakers to see if they work. also check if the vehicle has an amplifier. if still no sound try to connect the radio directly with a speaker in the back with the wires that come with the radio. sometimes when one of the speakers in the vehicle is shorted out it will not sound. if you have tried all of the above and still no sound you might have a bad (ic) intergrated circuit. it is located on the back end of the radio. the aluminum piece is bolted on to it. just look where two bolts are at least an inch apart almost in the middle. the ic# is pal007a. that can be replaced with different model numbers like tda 7384 and so on.

With these units, the internal amplifier is an IC that fails sometimes. It can leave the rest of the unit working ok, bit will have no audio. There may be audio from the line level RCA's but not from the speaker outs. Smell the back of the unit to see if it smells burnt. Most of the time it will, but not always. The IC is usually something like a PAL007a or similar. If you are good at soldering, you can order the part, and change it yourself. If not, you will need to seek a technician to replace the part. You may also try an external amplifier and RCA's instead of fixing the IC.

Usually with this model, when all else works, and there is no sound, the internal amplifier IC is blown. Smell the back, and see if it smells burnt. It may. It does not always tho. The IC is a PAL007a or something similar. It's kinda hard to replace if you aren't skilled with soldering, but it can be done by any decent repair shop. Also, test to see if there's a signal on the RCA's, if there is, you can forgo the internal amp, and get an external one. (it will require running speaker and power cables, but if you really like the head unit...;-)

no it isn't obsolete and there are replacements and cheater replacements. the pal 006a,pal005a,tda 7856/7854,7386,and the cheater one that will work and you already probably have is the ic from an original delco radio off of a chevrolet radio. but it will not have a remote wire to it.

Just get the
TDA7386 and thats all... I think it should not be the problem to get that one.

your problem may be that the output IC model #pal007a might be faulty.

Maybe you make a mistake and burn out the audio amplifier IC and you gotta change it.

if the att is on it will show it on the display it's more likely to be the internal amplifier that needs replacing which is a PAL007A ic
