Distorted sound - drink spilt

Hi, after a drink was spilt on a keyboard, I turned the laptop off and let it dry for couple of hours. Then it was working fine, but after 15mins the sound become distorted (kinda buzzy). No warranty so wanted to open it but dont really know what to look for, as sound card is integrated...

>>> This sound is same when from internal speakers as from spdif output when i plug headphones. I assume its something wrong rather with the soundcard than the speakers.

Ok..that's helpful..the sound card, so to speak, is embedded on motherboard on these units, so you'll need to replace that entirely(not simple, but not out of the realm of possibility).

How to Fix Spilt Liquid on bda25ce.jpg?
You accidentally knocked fruit drink or a late night glass of milk on your laptop or your child spilled a good portion of milk directly into your keyboard. You hear a popping noise, the screen goes black. Water by itself is not as bad as milk or juice, both of which are corrosive/acidic, or coffee, tea, soda, etc.
First and most important -Calm Down and unplug the computer from its power source.
Disconnect it from the power cord and remove the battery. If needs, please remove the keyboard. The old adage - Water and Electricity don't mix - is quite true. For your laptop spilled water, let your laptop dry. Do not attempt to turn on the computer for at least 72 hours. Let it sit in a cool, dry place. If you disassembled the laptop, reassemble it after 72 hours have passed.

Spilt drink on inspiron 1720. after letting dry

Make sure you DO NOT plug in your lap top to the power out let. This could cause a shock.
You see the Dell media direct, means your CMOS is OK.
But if Windows is not loading means the spill could have damaged your hard drive. I would strongly suggest you take it to a shop where they repair laptops.
This way you may have to replace your hard drive, but save your note book.

Laptop keyboard needs cleaning

I had a client with that problem--we removed the keyboard and tried to clean it. Turns out that our cleaning job was less than perfect because the laptop keyboard is mostly sealed. There was liquid that seeped down onto the motherboard as well--that we could clean up. The long and short of is--you will probably need to replace the keyboard. Of course, with nothing to lose, you could wash the keyboard and let it dry out thoroughly, plug it in, and see if it works. The key here would be the thorough drying. If you decide to try this chancy procedure, don't dry it with high heat. A hair dryer set on low might be the answer.

I have spilt a drink on my laptop, however I have managed to get everything working except the keyboard. Is there a way to remove the keyboard in order to make sure it is fully dried or to replace it?

Hi Stacy,

My suggestion is that you put your laptop batteries out first. And check your whole laptop checked from service center.

Distorted Sound - Acer Aspire 5602WLMi

Yes in a laptop Sound Card is comes as a integrated part of System. Before doing anything else it is highly recommended that you must download the Sound Driver from the Acer website and then install it on your Laptop. Be careful download the only sound Driver that related to your laptop model by using your laptop serial no.

The bastard laptop won't turn on!

  •  It could be beneficial to unplug the laptop & remove the battery. Let the system sit & dry for a couple days. More than likely you will have to replace the keyboard. Could be more damage that you do not see. If it is a sugary drink like soda, it enjoys tearing up soldered connections. Best guess wouuld be let it dry out. If it doesnt work & replacing the keyboard doesnt fix it, take it in to a service center.
