My ps3 is coming up with a red screen and saying a serious error has occurred. Contact technical support for assistance. The last time i played was last night fifa 10 everything was fine turned it this morning and it has come up with this can anyone help me with this problem

This is similar to the red light problem but the reason you get a screen is because the GPU has overheated.

You just need to stop the heat build up getting to the main chips and you will be able to play your games again.

To do this you have 2 choices:

Send it in and they will fix it for you although something to bear in mind that it will take 4 weeks and cost you $150 for the fix.

Or you can use a good PS3 Repair guide and fix it yourself.

red screen is like the red light of death. ur ps3 might of overheated

The "Red Screen of Death" usually happens in later PS3 Fat models right after you have turned on the PS3. It can happen right after the PS3 logo and wave animation appears. It is a mysterious error that seem to be software related during the checking process (perhaps some corruption in nand flash or harddrive block). When the error occurs, the screen turns red, and you see a message:

A serious error has occurred. Contact technical support for assistance.

Yes this is the red screen error you need to send it in to get this fixed or you can fix it yourself with a good guide

This is called the "PS3 Red Screen Of Death" it's the same as the 360's RROD. The best solution would be to contact Sony about it and they should resolve the issue.

Usually it's a motherboard issue, but you can try booting the PS3 WITHOUT the hard drive installed and see what happens.
