I have a Philips 19" Lcd When i swithced it on everything was fine until about 5 seconds later the screen went black. I have found that if i switch the monitor off and then on it works ok until...

A 19" Philips LCD prefers a setting of 1440X900 if you are too far off this it will turn itself off.
Right click on the desktop, go to settings and set it to 1440X900 and then go to advanced and make sure the refresh rate is set to 60 Hertz. Shining a flashlight on the screen will help you see.

There other thing that might be causing this is the setting on the monitor itself. Press the Menu button on the LCD and adjust the brightness and contrast.

If all else fails, contact Philips. This is a premium brand and it comes witha 4 year warranty.

Auto adjastment locked

Samsung implements protection into their monitors, which allows to block all settings except brightness and contrast. This "Locked" mode turns on by pressing and holding 'Menu' button for 5 seconds, and turns off by pressing and holding 'Enter' button for 5 sec.
