have u got that model number correct? it will have a lp option but to be fair the picture quality in lp mode is much worse than sp mode if you can fit all you want in sp mode it ll be better playback.check model number again
If I remember correctly, VCR players had three speed settings. SP-short play, LP-Long play, and SLP- Super long play. The vcr is supposed to be able to tell what speed the tape was recorded at, thus playing it back at the correct speed. If your unit has lost the ability to sense the speed the tape was recorded then you will have to set the speed manually, if possible. Other than that I would have to say it's time to get a new vcr.
Hi, As you may know, the LP,EP,SP issue is related with VCR 's Recording function only.. it
is selectable only before recording session starts.. while it plays any
VHS cassette whatever the recorded speed was and it selects automatically.. there
should be either a small switch in control panel of VCR or in "SET UP MENU "as recording
speed . let me know if it does not work out..

U have play back problems on playback SP LP SLP modes tuggles problems.Try website like Remotes.com to buy the tv original remote, have these buttons to set the correct VHS tape play back modes tuggles problems.
No, not usually. If you've recorded a tape at LP and put it another machine that doesn't have LP, it usually won't play properly. Some machines that have only SP/EP will do this, but they are got scarce as more manufacturers dropped the LP speed. Your best bet is to buy an older one from a thrift shop or a garage sale, making sure that it will play LP. Then, copy your older LP tapes to SP or EP (Run the OUT from the LP unit to the IN on the SP/EP unit, and choose "record from line in", "aux", or "rear input").
Those terms mean the speed that the VCR can record programs.
SP Standart Play >>> 120 minutes.
LP Long Play >>>>>> 240 minutes.
SLP Slow Long Play > 480 minutes.
FIRST THING YOU HAVE TO DO IS HAVE YOUR DVD RECORDERS LENS AND DRIVE CLEANED ALSO MAKE SURE THE VCR HEADS ARE CLEANED ALSO.
NEXT WHEN RECORDING make sure the format of the tape(speed like sp & lp are the same as the dvd recording speed(sp& lp are the same before starting recording.
There should be either a switch or button on the front panel that changes the display panel to reflect mode change If not then If you have osd then you will have to change speeds via the osd record mode or timer mode (if exist)
