C44 vista home basic comes up with printer error occured

Here in this post I explain about a specific problem faced by Toshiba eStudio printer users. Toshiba eStudio series is high speed printer and mainly used in corporate offices. One day when you work all of a sudden you receive an error message from the printer and it shows C44 and now you can't print anymore. Frustrating isn't it?
Little bit facts about the C44 error, C44 simply means that the count of printer has gone above the limit and it needs service. But in most cases its false positive, means many reasons can bring up the issue. Some of them include over heat of printer parts, issue in settings, or any particular component failure but above all it occurs for some unknown reasons also and that's why you can use this to rectify the issue. The advantage of doing this is that if the issue do not solve up after doing this you can call you service engineers but if it gets solved it can save your money for calling the service engineers.
Solution:

1. Switch off the printer first.
2. Now Power the Printer by pressing 0 and 8 keys (keep pressing).
3. Then a test mode comes up.
4. Now Type 400.
5. Press START (!)(You will get a counter and now you need to reset this).
6. Type 0.
7. Press Enter(start)
8. Switch off the Printer now and restart and check again with first steps till typing 0 (You need not type 0).
9. Now switch off the printer and on it normally.
10. You should see printer working normally

This fix is applicable to all Toshiba eStudio printers.

This error indicates that the print count has gone above the limit and it requires service. But, this is not necessarily true. Try the following to reset the count:

Symptoms:
This issue occurs after updating to Release (R6). Quicken is attempting to display a duplicate check number message, when the error occurs. We have identified this issue to be caused by one or more duplicate check numbers in the checking register.


Solution 1

1. When clicking Print Checks, the next Check # to be printed is displayed. Take note of the check #, and then click Cancel.
2. From the Checking register, click Find and search for the check number.
3. Edit the transaction(s) to include the correct check number, or remove the check # from the transaction.
4. Print checks.

Solution 2

1. Click Edit from the menu bar, and choose Preferences > Quicken Program.
2. Go to Register > Notify, and remove the check mark from “Warn if a check number is re-used”
3. Click OK.
4. Print checks.

The issue usually occurs if you are using windows xp drivers on a vista machine. It's strange that the error does not come up when printing from internet explorer 7.0.

There is a file on support.dell.com that you can run to remove any xp drivers and then run the vista installation file. that should take care of these error messages from the operating system.

You can't load the software that came with the printer.

HP has a Vista page for your printer. Here is a link: PSC2210 Using Vista

Basically, you need to uninstall the software AND delete the printer from your computer. Disconnect your USB cable. Power up your printer. Connect the USB cable.

The above link gives some workarounds for scanning and importing images.

You can go into your print driver and change the Driver. I dont think there is a difference between Home or Prem drivers. There is how ever a difference between 32 bit and 64 bit Vista?
When you set up the printer and share it from a PC, The printer attached to that PC can Control the Configurartion of the printer. PC's can either pull the driver from the sharing PC or you can select your own.

I would first check that the correct drivers are installed, (64bit or 32bit)
I would check the computer that is trying to print. replace the driver with the correct one.
You can open the print server -open the printers and fax folder, right click in a white area in that folder, a menu should pop up. Select Print Server from there you will see tabs, try to replace the driver from there.
Or Open the Printer Properties and there you will see Driver-Update in there.
