My Krups Type 905 espresso maker jammed in a brew cycle. Have been able to free brew unit. The machine gearing seems to be out of step. How can the machine be reset?

You will need to remove the brewing unit from the base and tip it upside down to inspect/free up the mechanism. While you have it that far replace the seal (barista seal) at the bottom of the brewing chamber that seals the rod on the ejector mechanism. Also inspect the back of that sweeping arm where it runs in a track at the back of the tamping piston ram. A new tamping piston with seals and tank seal would not go astray, all the parts are relatively cheap NZ$40 easily gets the lot.

Sorry for the delay. I will need to look up some reference materials and drawings on this before I can aupply an acurate answer. Been one of those nights and I apoligize for the delay.

Remove the brew unit and check the screen under the red o-ring, find the 2 screws above the top piston and make sure the chamber that leads out to the tube is clear.

Check/adjust the grind on your coffee.

If you find water in the spend grounds drawer or with the cup grid out you see water being dispensed into the drip tray your brew unit needs repair or replacement. If none of that is happening the tube that brings hot water to the brew unit is clogged.

The wavy lines indicate the carafe pre-heat function. When it is ON the red light blinks for several minutes and the goes on solid. It doesn't start brewing until the light is solid red.
Mine also doesn't seem to keep hot also.

Your vinegar did the job: it as removed the deposits, now these deposits are clogging the four holes porcelain valve.....if the froth lever is not broken.
Remove all the screw you can see on the top and under the top of it, remove the cover, unscrew the frothing device down to the porcelain valve consisting of two 4 holes discs, clean them, and voila!
