I hope I am correct in thinking your question refers to an Epson Stylus Photo RX580 printer.

I am not quite sure what you mean by "reset service life."

Did you, perhaps, receive a message about the printer being at the end of its service life? If so, I believe the information here (an Epson United States web page) may explain that message:

If you did receive an Epson maintenance message about the printer being at the end of its service life, that means it is time to choose and purchase a new printer.

My personal experience with Epson printers (I have owned a series of Epson printers over 20 years) is that they seem to have a maximum service life of about 6-7 years.

You may need to use the reset utility again. there are other reset utilities for Epson "end of service life" issues, search on google.

This message indicates that the porous waste ink pads inside your product are near the end of their service life. Please see the Epson Ink Pads Reset Utility web page for more information.

a printer error has occurred. see your documentation

check connections by wiggling and reinserting plugs into printer and wall.

Measure voltage of external power supply with a multimeter to determine if the printer is getting recommended voltage.

If the above doesn't work, then it may need serviced by Epson.com, if it's sitll in warranty.

1. turn it off & disconnect from computer
2. open printer & check for any obstructions
3. load a sheet of paper, press & hold the paper feed button while turning the printer on
4. it should print a test page, else the printer needs service as there might be some no-user serviceable parts inside that got damaged by the paper jam.

Make sure it is the correct size. HERE ARE SIZES.

If you are using NON epson ink catridges? This is most likely your problem. I would recommend that you use only Epson products for your Epson printer. These "made in China" inks can ruin printers fast. If you are using only epson cartridges and this is still the case? You may have worn your printer out.

Could be ink cartridge no contact, or it is dirty. Or if you try to print and this printer that flag a message " end of service life......parts." . You should reset it counter using third party software. In kinda connection with ink pad.
