Check powers and earth, unplug sub and crank it up see if it still goes into protect if it doesnt the sub is too much load for that amp and could have damaged the amp, if it still does it then its a fault in the amp or power problem make sure you have good thickness 4gauge and good earth

My kicker kx 1200.1 keep clicking to protection mode back and forth when it power. There is a clicking sound comming from the amp...is it a major problem to fix? This just start happening when i was listen...

Look for a frayed speaker wires. Look everywhere. Start where you can see and then look under carpet, under seats, trunk and everywhere wires go throgh a hole in steel frame. Any minor connection between the two speaker wires will cause high-power systems to go into protection mode. Wires can be damaged by long-term vibrations of your car, people stepping on badly placed wires under carpet, moving seats (when adjusted) or even rodents bitting on the wiring. Look closely and you will normally find it. Also look closely where you connect your speaker wires to the amp. One small strand of wire jumping across to another terminal will cause a short and cause protection mode.

I have a sony 100 watt amp and it wont stay on for very long

You need more current.Bass notes require more juice and the best way to get more power for bass is to add a power capacitor to your system . They are easy to install and you can get one for less than a hundred dollars that should be enough for your amp and subs.

Sub keeps loosin bass

Its probably not your subwoofer- its likely that your amp is showing its age after 2 years of bumping -But it could be that you have partially roasted the coil on the sub which is tripping your amp into protect mode-thus shutting down throw a different sub in there for a week and listen to it and if it stops acting up then its probably the sub if it still shuts down then it may be time for a new amp

My amp is protecting unessacarily when ran at 2 ohms

are you factoring the ohm rating from running them parallel?

2 x 2o subs parallel = 0.5 ohm (lowers ohm's)

2x 2oh subs series = 4 ohm

IT is posable that you are calculating the ohm rating fine, BUT some SUBS can reach lower ohm rating while hitting bass- i didnt know this till i had a rather insane sub that would dip to 1ohm while hitting hard bass causing my amp to go into protect mode.

Power light turns from green to red protect mode and then there is no sound coming from my speakers

there are 2 reasons for it to be going into protect mode 1 is heat 2 is the load on it. if it is going into protect mode soon after it starts there is a problem with the speaker. if it is after it has been on for a while it is that the amp itself is overheating. hope this answers your question

Kenwood amp kac-x401m

How long will the bass play before the amp kicks into protection mode and how loud are you listening to it? I've noticed with my amps that if they don't have enough air flow they will get hot and kick into protection mode. They will also kick into protection mode if you are running it at more than it can handle. Check your adjustments on both your amp and the head unit. Make sure you are not running more bass than the amp can handle.
