Built-in FM Transmitter to transmit sound over own car stereo and lets not forget Best hands-free calling> Best guess is that your computer is finding and trying to connect to the blue tooth connection since Toshiba has blue tooth capabilities, also you could be losing the wifi signal just because the FM transmitter is overpowering the the wifi signal. If i had to guess though i would go for the blue tooth connection as being the problem. Hope this helps

Restore FN + F8 key to reactivate Wi-Fi on Toshiba Satellite L500

Hi,
My laptop didnt enable the wifi with the fn+f8 key.
I even reset the cmos and nothing.
Then I went to toshiba drivers website and after installing the "thku" "toshiba hotkey utility" the fn+f8 start working and enable/disable the wifi. It now shows a popup windows when I press the fn+f8 key.

Before the wifi led was always off. Windows detected the wifi device but nothing on the wifi available list.
Now the led is always on, starts orange when I turn on the pc and blue when connected.

Lap top will not conect to the wireless internet connection

If you are on a laptop: (windows)
1. check to make sure your physical on off switch for the wireless card is turned on. Windows will sometimes still show it as being active while the switch is physically still off.
2. Disable/re inable the software connection to the wi fi

(MAC) Disable reinable the wireless card in dropdown menu

3. restart the wi fi router

Turn the laptop over, Front facing you.
The Battery Compartment is on the Front Right corner.
The Wi-Fi Compartment Cover is on the Back Left corner.

Remove the single screw in the right middle of the cover. (Philips head)
See if a Wi-Fi PCI Mini Card is installed.

No?
You'll have to obtain a Wi-Fi PCI Mini Card for your Toshiba.

Unable to connect to wi-fi

I think it is saying that the wifi "card" is set so that it is not being configured by windows.

In XP

Control panel > Network connections

Under LAN or High-speed internet you will see an icon labelled wireless network connection. Right click on this and then click properties. You will see three tabs at the top
General - Wireless Networks - Advanced

Click on wireless networks
There should be a tick-box saying Use windows to configure my wireless network settings. I expect that, in your case, the box is unticked which means that the software supplied by the vendor of the wifi card is configuring the settings. I find that it is usually more reliable to let windows do it.

So tick the box and click OK. You may then have to reboot.
