Does the freezer get cold? Any cooling? There could be a number of things. Biggest problem is this machine is not worth fixing. The amount of energy it uses monthly is probably 1.5 times what a new one uses in a whole year. Technology has changed greatly in the last 42 years. Recycle your old one. Some utilities, like the one in my area, will pay you to replace it!!
If what you say is accurate, I would look at either a weak compressor or and issue with the expansion device. (Cap tube, TXV)
What are your pressures and what freon are you using? Does the door(s) seal tight?
You can try 2 things. Unplug it for about 2-3 minutes and then replug it. It should reset itself. You can silence the alarm or muffle it. Silencing it should be hard. Disconnect it from its source. You may want to find out why it is alarming constantly. Have you called Sears and asked them?
You said, The warranty
just ran out, Sears came out told me needs a control board ($210 for
just labor to replace) not sure about part price. I though a new
freezer is about twice his labor and parts, so I sent him away minus
$65.
I did some troubleshooting
today, pull the plug for 2 days. Plug it in, temp alarm goes on all the
time. Turn alarm off, left the freezer running for 4hrs.
Not cold at all, some cool air. Fan is on, compressor is on (can hear
humming noise and is vibrating). Compressor is very hot to the touch,
could burn finger.
Should I call Sears again, wonder how much to fix all the problem? Or
just give up, look for another brand new one (not Kenmore).
MY ADVICE: Sounds like a big repair bill and multiple problems
How old is the appliance?
If the appliance is 10 years old or more you may not be advisable to put good money into bad! New appliance are so much more efficient today that they can save you a lot of money in energy!!!! Replace it.
You will be fine

If this is not a frost free unit. I say replace it. I don't believe in recharging a deep freeze. You can never really trust them again. The food inside is worth more than the freezer. If this is a frost free unit, See if the fan inside is working. This can also be a defrost system proplem such as a timer and well worth fixing.
you have a refrigeration issue partner let her go 16 yrs. is good service you can replace it for 3 to 5 hundred the repair will be that IF you can find someone with the r-12. don't go for a top it off and go deal the food you lose is to expensive for that to be economical.
