Question about Smeg UK2010X-1 Pyrolytic Stainless Steel Electric Single Oven

Open Question

My Smeg SA130P oven won't unlock after a self-cleaning cycle

The first time I used the pyrolitic cycle, the glass exploded inside. A technician fixed the glass, tested it, and said it was working.

The second time, the door won't unlock. Read some advice which said to switch off the power, but this has had no effect either.

I have only used the feature twice, about a year apart. Thanks in advance.

How to CLEAN a Frigidaire Self-Cleaning Oven
Step 1Use a plastic spoon to scrape away any extra spillovers or burnt-on food from inside the oven. Remove as much of this as you can before running the self-cleaning cycle, because any spillovers left in the oven during the cleaning cycle may cause a lot of smoke.
  • Step 2Wipe off the inside of the oven with a rag dipped in soapy water. Be careful not to get any cleaning supplies on the oven door gasket or to disrupt the position of the gasket at all; having a good seal is critical to the success of the oven's self-cleaning cycle.
  • Step 3Clean any soil away from the oven frame and its door liner with a rag dipped in soapy water. Any soil left on these parts of the oven may become burned on during the self-cleaning cycle.
  • Step 4Pull the broiler pan and grid, any utensils, and any tin foil that may have been left in the oven out of it. They can't withstand the extreme temperatures the self-cleaning oven will reach. It's okay to leave the oven racks in the oven.
  • Step 5Make sure the oven door is completely closed.
  • Step 6Press the "CLEAN" button on the control pad. Use the up and down arrows to select the desired cleaning time; use 2 hours for a lightly soiled oven and 3 or 4 hours for a dirtier oven. The oven will lock itself and begin the cleaning cycle.
  • Step 7Wait for the cycle to end and the oven to cool; it will then unlock itself automatically. Don't try to open the oven door before it has unlocked itself.

Smeg pyrolitic oven is setting an alarm off on clock after we set the required temp it will start to heat up then the alarm goes off if not quick enough to reset clock, it then locks the oven door

in cleaning a pyrolitic oven is suppose to lock the oven door , this is a safety feature due to fact that oven gets up much higher in temp than a normal oven , the heated air it produces if let out would flash burn anything in front of it to ashes (people, pets, rugs, etc.) the clock doubles as your display window to see what temp oven is at , there should be a clock selection to see current time of day even if oven is in use , and last but not least , it has a delay cleaning start feature , you can set it to come on and clean it's self , Id recommend not to use this feature for safety reasons (I don't think the mfg thought that feature out too much )
the door should remain locked till oven temp is below a preset minimum safe temp ,id not force it open for safety reasons

Please help me, I'm the owner of five Frigidaire appliances, Recently I used self clean cycle to clean the oven (which I have done it before). Only this time the door will not open no matter w

Thank you for your inquiry, Sam Aghajan!

I see that your Frigidaire range has went through a self-cleaning and the door will not open. It sounds like a possible issue with the door latch or control panel. I understand that you have reset your range and performed a second self-clean. I would suggest holding down the cancel/clear button for five to ten seconds. This should help to unlatch the door. You can also perform a self-clean cycle and before the cycle starts clear it out and that should help to release the door. If that does not work I would recommend contacting a professional technician to come out and repair the latch. Good luck. -Matt

Should. Find few screws on the top and the sides of the door. Just unscrew them and see how the old one is that will give you a clue on how to replace it.

H E L P !!! My oven made some noises this morning when my husband was wiping down the front of the oven door. Noise sounded like the "oven was going into clean mode"....but then only lasted...

Please apply the solution this way!

To close an oven door when it's in the locked position and the door is open, press and hold the oven door light switch while following these simple steps:
    • Program the oven to self-clean.
    • Wait 20 seconds.
    • Cancel self-clean.
    • Wait 20 seconds.
To self-clean your wall oven, follow these simple steps:
    • Remove the oven racks.
    • Set your oven control to "Clean."
    • Select a cleaning time or choose a cleaning level: light, medium or heavy. For typical cleaning needs, we recommend that you select a cleaning time of three hours or choose the medium setting.
    • Select "Start." (To set a delayed start, see your Use & Care Guide.)

Note: For safety reasons, the oven door will remain locked until the oven cools down. When it is sufficiently cool, the door will automatically unlock.

    Thanks for using fixya.

The glass on the inside of my door also exploded at around 200 degrees? Is this a common problem with these ovens? It has only been in use 8 months!!!

    Hello there
No this not a common item to have this happen too
BUT there are several recalls on ovens for this so if you contact your ovens manufacture and discuss this with them this oven may fall under one of their recalls and you can get it fixed for free ok
    Hope this helps
    Best regards mike

Akz161-03-IX Can you please advise if other people have reported exploding glass doors on this oven

I have experienced 'exploding' doors on all types of ovens. The most common reason is that the glass door has, at some time in its life, had a 'knock or bang'. The glass door could be fine for an indeterminable length of time.
