Just moved into a rental property with an Ariston LS 2020 dishwasher. Have instruction book but no idea of how long a cycle should take. Has been washing now for nearly two hours and still not finished.

The water temp thermostat is to blame or the water is not heating.Basically what happens is the washer fills with cold water and starts to wash and heat at the same time.Once the water reaches a certain temperature it moves onto the next stage of the wash program.If the water is not heating or the thermostat is not working the programmer wont get the signal to move on.Hope this helps.

If the Ariston takes more then 2 hours to finish it's cycle, the cause could possibly be the heating element. Mine was taking around 3 to 4 hours to complete the cycle. on inspection I found cracks in the heating element, Once the element was replaced it returned to the normal 2 hour cycle.
The dishwasher had been running great for around 6 months, now the wash pump is arking and causing great concern. Apparently water was slowly leaking onto the pump as the lower wash arm lock nut had loosened slightly. No looking for a cheap replacement pump.
