Amana Range, Electric wont bake or broil

I have an Amana range, elective, smooth top. Model ART6510WW. Recently, it quit broil or baking.

Clues are as follows:
1. time just blinks. When try to bake or broil, it beeps and clock goes out for a couple seconds, then back to blinking. (I do hear a relay click when it goes out)
2. Resistance on bake element is 22 Ohm, Broil element is 19 Ohm.
3. Checked the latch, also cannot go into clean. Does not appear to be trying to clean (as I suggested in a help online).
4. 240VAC across 2 legs of source. Top burners seem to work Ok.

My suspicions point to the ERC-III unit, but it is costly. Want to verify before taking this plunge.

Please give suggestions.

Couple more thoughts: cannot even set the time at all. I did replace the lower element about 2 months ago because it had burned out - but was now working Ok.

clock won't set, but (I think) oven would operate anyway. Buzzer when you press keys sounds sick.

The fact that the time keeps flashing is odd, an you set the clock?? and if so does it return to blinking again???sme stoves wont allow proper operation of oven without the clock being set.

Top element does not work in bake mode, but it does work in broil mode

The top element is a broil element and will not come on in bake mode just as the lower bake element will not come on during the broil mode

When set to bake oven does not preheat and tempature does not increase. when set to broil oven heats

Since your oven has a separate element for bake and broil I would bet the bake element is burnt out or burnt electrical connection to the element. Make sure you disconnect all power to the range before checking.

The Bake ignitor in our Amana Gas Range (model #ACF3375AW) recently began to only work intermittently. Now it doesn't work at all. The Broil ignitor works fine. Any ideas? Thanks! Dana - Minneapolis

Hi Dana from Minneapolis...you need a new Bake ignitor, which is also called a glow coil. When it's working properly it glows a white hot colour and as it wears out it will glow an orange colour and needs to be replaced, this is why it began failing and then quit altogether. This is a part that requires an authorized gas technician to install for you. Good Luck.

Range will not hold a consistent temperature

Good chance your bake element is out. Could be the element or a terminal burned off.
When you set to bake, normally it preheats which uses the bake and broil element.
When it reaches "near" temp, the broil goes off and the bake takes over.
If the bake element, (the one in the bottom), is not working, the temp will decline.

Check:
Turn to 450 deg.
Watch the elements, assuming you have a door with a glass, and see if both elements, top and bottom, glow red.

GE Electric Range

It is very common for elements to "catch fire" when they fail. It is really electical arching. But to answer your question you shouldnt be concerned if it ever happens to the bottom element immediatly kill the breaker it will stop instantly. dont use a fire extinguisher as it wont stop the arching. And most ovens do use the upper broil element for baking for very short intervals like 10secs on every minute or so to brown the top of product. Some models (especially older builder line ) do not

Oven will not heat past 220 degrees

Check your bake element, I had the exact same problem and found the bake element had burned in half. The broil element comes on during preheat and kicks off at around 220 degrees.
