My mom's ACER ASPIRE 3050 had a virus which a virus program has removed. But... at boot up it is now asking for a ''Log on to Windows'' password. I've entered safe mode but am encountering the same problem (log in password). Any suggestions out there?

Your computer's BIOS, or basic input/output system,
regulates several important system functions before your operating system
loads.
The BIOS can even tell your operating system which device it
should load from, whether the computer's hard drive or a USB stick.
You can control this and other options from the BIOS boot
menu.
If you own an Acer Aspire One netbook and want to access the
boot menu, you can do so by entering the computer's BIOS.
Turn off your Acer Aspire One netbook.
Turn it back on.
Press "F2" when you see the Acer logo appear as
the computer boots up.
This will open the computer's BIOS menu.
Press the arrow keys to highlight the Boot option.
Press the down arrow key to highlight specific boot settings
to change.
also Windows operating systems support a variety of boot options
on the Windows Advanced Options Menu that allow you boot your computer based on
your need.
They support boot options such as Safe Mode, which is generally best for
troubleshooting and virus removals; or the Safe Mode with Networking, which
allows to use an Internet connection while troubleshooting system problems.
Within seconds, you can access the boot menu and select the
option that works well for the task you want to accomplish.
Shut down all currently running programs and restart your computer.
Press "F8" repeatedly before the Windows icon
shows up on your screen.
This will bring you to the "Windows Advance Options
Menu."
Scroll down and select the boot option you want.
Press "Enter."You can select from "Safe
Mode" "Safe Mode with Networking" or your regular booting option.
Choose the boot option based on your need.
For troubleshooting, it is advisable to select "Safe
Mode" because only a certain amount of drivers and resources run allowing
you to resolve issues.

2
During startup, hold down the "F8" function key immediately when you see the "Acer" splash screen and the option for entering "Setup."
3
Keep pressing the "F8" key until the "Advanced Boot Options" menu appears. If you receive a "keyboard error," restart the Acer Aspire and repeat step 2.
4
Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Safe Mode" selection on the "Advanced Boot Options" menu. The arrow keys are located on the right-hand side of the Acer Aspire keyboard.

Corrupted windows installation. If you can boot to safe mode, run a disc check and see if that resolves the issue, If it does not, or you cannot access it in safe mode, you need to repair your version of windows with the install disc.
During boot-up keep pressing F8 this should give you safe mode options, choose "SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING" once your have got into windows install hitman pro and use the free trial by registering the product online. Rin the software and remove any found viruses. Re-boot the computer and go into Windows as normal all viruses should be removed.
try going into safe mode, usualy by pressing f8 after restarting it,then select safe mode and see if it boots. If it does boot then you most likely have a driver, virus or maleware problem. There is always the system restore option too from safe mode.
when the computer first boots click alt f10 on your keyboard and it will take you to the acer restore program. you can then restore your computer to the default settings. you will be asked to hit enter before it will allow you into the screen
Have you tried booting into safe mode? If not, hit F8 at startup
(before the Windows logo) and see if safe mode works. If you can get
into safe mode and not normal mode, you have either a) driver problem
or b) Windows corruption
If that is the case, you can remove your drivers from your device
manager (video and audio drivers are the biggest culprits) and try
booting normally again. If the drivers are the problem, windows will
boot and try to load drivers for the devices that you removed.
If you end up removing all devices and Windows still won't boot, you
either have spyware or viruses on your system ... or Windows is so
corrupted that you will need to reinstall.
Be aware that if you have bugs in your system, a simple "Windows
repair" might not work. You can try it, but just be aware. Worst case
scenario, boot into safe mode again, back up your files to a flash
drive, external drive or another partition, then reinstall Windows
"clean", which will wipe the C drive and reload a clean install with no
bugs and no problems :)
