This actually quite a good trick to provide an appropriate (eg. charged) 'alternate' DC power source to maintain the minimum voltage and current to hold the computer, radio and alarm setting for your car while swapping your car battery (I have myself used 2 small 9 Volts batteries in series via alligators clips for this purpose): just make sure that it is connected on the correct side of the cables where voltage and current will be maintained after the main car battery is disconnected!
Hope it works for you and have fun!

Why do the fan stay running when car is off on my 03 crown vic?

Sounds like you have a double problem . First locate the radiator fan relay it should be in the fuse box change the relay. Also change the tempature sending unit (attached to radiator) . If your car is overheating . You need to check. For a leak, be sure you have enough. Fluid in radiator, check. Thermostat , change it anyway cheap enough, ( 16 lbs. pressure ) this should solve your problem

2004 Crown Vic tran whines in low gear only, took ...

It's normal on the AOD transmissions. Their first gear uses straight cut gear and thus has the whining noise. Gear 2, 3 and 4 are helical gears and thus quiet.

Trying to install a subwoofer on a 97 crown vic

Make sure you are using a 12volt DC system in both units. It may sound simply but an AC sub may need an inverter. Also check grounds.

'94 Ford Crown Vic Headlights

They are changed from within the engine compartment... at the rear of the headlight bazels... if it's the side on the battery you may have to remove it.... also don't touch the bulbs with your fingers as that shortens the life of them.
