My 43” onn is telling me to execute auto channel scan when I turned it on

yes so press the menu button , once the menu pops up scroll down to channel then click the right arrow then scroll down to anything meaning auto scan channels then click on that and then put your remote down and in a few minutes it will finish scanning and it should close menu and go straight to one of the scanned channels, once this happens you should treat your tv normally and go through the channels until you find something you want to watch and so on, your done. If this does not take care of your problem feel free to get back to me asap. THKS!

I have a 32inch sceptre mx322BV-SRR an when scanning channels it switches to analog after only scanning 50% of digital channels dont know if my boss hit something on remote wrong or what

The first 50% of the scan is digital. The second 50% is analog. Unfortunately, you can't turn of the analog scanning or ask for only digital. If you are using an antenna be sure that it is aimed in the location that will provide the most channels. If you are using an antenna, you may be able to scan for channels individually. You will have to turn the antenna 5degrees at a time and then scan for individual channels. If you do a wide range scan, all channels previously found will be erased.

I have a toshiba tv 39al900a which was won in a raffle. When you turn it on it says please scan channels.t.

The first step is to make sure you have good batteries in the remote. The ones included tends to be cheap and you have no idea how old they are.
Here is the manual, page 12 explains how to use the remote and the next few pages cover the initial setup and scanning of channels.

If the remote is still not working, get a universal remote to replace it. This link gets you the codes to program the universal to work with your TV. http://codesforuniversalremotes.com/universal-remote-control-codes-toshiba-tvs/

Hello... It sounds like you need to run a channel scan. If you have the owners manual, it should walk you through how to do that. I searched online for one, but couldn't find one. I seem to remember something like "Terrestrial" for Auto-programming channels. I hope this helps!

I do not know how to do a channel scan, can you help me please? I seriously thought that I could find anything online but I have not been able to find how to channel scan this tv.

What brand/model TV do you have? If the TV has several input options, make sure that the TV is set to the TV mode. (Use the Input or Source button on the remote, some TVs have this on the TV as well but not always)

Some can only do a channel scan with the original remote. My old Emerson CRT (~20 years old) launched a channel scan when I pressed the Add and Delete Channel buttons together on the remote. Fortunately even when most of the buttons failed on that remote, the channel scan still launched.

Other TVs from that time frame have an channel scan button in the control panel. Often these are hidden behind a panel to avoid accidental resets.

More modern TVs usually have the scan as part of the menu. Depending on the TV, press Menu on the remote (or if available on the TV (sometimes can be done by pressing Ch+/Ch- together)). Then look for a Setup option or a TV icon. If you have a Setup menu, you will then need to go to the TV submenu. Then find the option for setting the input signal (TV/cable) and then you should be able to launch a channel scan. (Usually the Ch+/Ch- (up/down) and Vol+/Vol- (left/right) buttons will navigate through the menus.)

Unfortunately, without the make and model, I can't give you any more help. Please write back with your brand of TV and I'll check if I have the manual in my stack.

Cindy Wells
(low end universal remotes do not always include the menu or source button. If your TV doesn't have them, you may need a different remote. The ones that can be programmed via a USB connection are the easiest to set up.)

ok i am typeing this right out of the book/
operating your tv: Once you have connected your tv to an anntenna or cable system, plugged the tv in, and put batteries in the remote, you are ready to use the tv. the first thing you should do is program your tv so it memorizes all of available analog& didgital channels.PROGRAMING YOUR TVS CHANNEL MEMORY: your tvs memory determines the channels thet are available using the "up ch down" buttons. if a channel is not in memory . you can tune to it with the numbeer buttons, but not with the up and down buttons . follow these steps to program your tvs memory:
1) Preset
press the MENU button twice to enter preset menu

To memorize all available analog and didgital channels
press the ch down button to highlight FULL SCAN then press VOL.+ to begin channel scaning, the channel scanning starting with analog channels then to didgital channels. after your tv finishes memorizing the channels, it will return to normal tv viewing. I hope that this fixes your problem thats just the main section on the programing part so if you need further info just ask!

TV scans for channels and wont stop.

I've seen a similar problem like this caused by a stuck button either on the set or the remote control. IF one button has no effect then that's the one that's bad. This might also be your problem. If not then something has failed in the system control circuit. Stargazer
