Check scan head movement while copying/scanning..if its not moving check scan head gear assm any breakage? replace it. If its moving properly and giving blank image scan head faulty(which is moving forward & revers wile scanning or copying) replace it..
If the weather band is working, the scanner should be working. To verify operation:
- Move the MODE switch to "Scanner" and power the unit ON. - Press the SVC button (chrome button below display). - Press POL (chrome button below display). - Turn the SQUELCH knob towards the left until scanning stops and you hear a hissing noise. - Turn the SQUELCH knob towards the right slowly until scanning resumes.
If the scanner stops on anything - even noise, it's working.
To Program:
- Slide the MODE key to "Scanner." - Power the unit ON - Turn the SQUELCH knob to the left until you hear a hissing noise, then turn it the right - slowly - until scanning resumes. - Press HOLD. - Press E (PGM). - Press 0, 1. - Press HOLD. - Enter your first frequency, including the decimal point (EX: 156.055). - Press the E (PGM) key. - Press the UP arrow (above the SCAN key). Scanner will move to channel 02. - Enter your second frequency, including the decimal point. - Press the E (PGM) key.
You should now have two frequencies programmed. Press the SCAN key . . .
If it still will not accept programming, let me know.
the L1-00 indicate the scanner carriage is not moving. Something is
stopping it. Open the document feeder and turn the copier on while
watching the scan carriage (beneath the main glass) - does it move or
try to move ? does it make a noise? If it seems to be moving
freely for a bit and then stop - is it going back to its "home"
position (starting point). Remove the main glass and then move the scan
carriage by hand (with the copier turned off) .. does the carriage move
ok? check for a loose carriage drive wire or debris or something
broken. Make sure the carriage locking screw is not holding it. Then
turn the copier back on and see if the carriage makes an attempt to
move back to its starting point. if everything seems to be moving ok
then the problem could ly with the "home position" sensor. It could
also possibly be a bad drive motor.

If the lamp simply will not move then the green latch on the bottom of the scanner is locked and holding the scan head in the locked position.
If it is a scan to network issue or scan to E-mail you need to use a USB or parallell cable and you may have to change the USB port speed, But without knowing which problem you have I am not sure exactly where to head with this problem.
The scanner lock is located on the underside of the scanner. If you look in where you reach to remoce your copies, you will see on the bottom of the scanner a green latch, about 2 inches long and a half an inch wide. Push it in then pull it toward you until you feel it snap locked . Then power the machine off and back on.
sounds like you've lost a tooth from a gear in the scan drive, most of them are plastic, it will only need one tooth to break to make a clicking noise. If you can see which gears rotate as the scan moves, examine them very carefully. Can you gently move the scan by hand?.Do you feel any resistance at the point where the noise starts? If so , check for obstructions, like position sensors bent/damaged
Is there is a **** in the scan head or possibly a humming noise each time you try to scan that then stops? If so, most likely the gear assembly that moves scanner across the glass surface is damaged.
If there is no recognition at all then it may be related to the software. Try to uninstall, move the device to a difference USB port, reinstall, and reattach the device. Then be careful when plugging and unplugging the device, changing the USB will sometimes corrupt the device profile.
Definitely sounds like the scan bar or some related hardware is bad. I would call Lexmark tech support at 1-800-332-4120 and ask them if it is still under warranty and if it's covered by warranty. Hope you registered the product when you first bought it.
