My Creative is completely dead. It doesn't turn on. Reset does nothing. Computer can't detect it either. Some people have got a flashing blue light but mine doesn't even do that! Has the battery completely died on me?
Please help.
My creative lab version M is dead (I left it alone for several months), I dont even get a blue light. I left it plugged in the wall over night and it's still not turning on.
Does this unit run without battery at all? could be the internal charger is truly unhappy.
as to the battery life issues. there is a rule of thumb. temperature and storage will decay the internal chemistry of any rechargeable battery. The most effective means of making a battery life extend, is to actually run it through short charge recharge cycles, with a small current requirement(which means when the system is in idle, not when it's on full load)..
so, if your battery is unhappy, it's more likely due to the decay effect of the storage and temperature situation.
now, can it be recovered.
possibly..but you may be looking at a recharge cycle along these lines.
Recharge time, is usually 5-7 times the discharge time. So calculating this..if you want to trickle charge your dead and deceased battery, you may need to take it off the power source you have, and have it trickle charged with a charging device.
the energy issues inside the tired battery material, makes it incumbent to NOT fast charge this battery.
your chances of success?
I'd give it 1 in 4 to be recharged.
If your zen does not turn on or show any sign of life when connected to the adapter, then must be the charger that is not working, not the battery. In any case not the battery alone. Here is the charger for $6.
To Ensure that the charger, and/or the battery is faulty you can use tester , one under $10 will do the job. Use the tester to check that power is ok on charger connector. If this one is ok ckeck battery contacts inside the Zen battery box, while zen is connected to power.

The working life of a battery pack usually exceeds 500 to 600 complete charge/discharge cycles. If you run your laptop using a mix of AC and battery power, the battery will typically last up to three years—maybe longer. Always refer to the laptop’s documentation for specific battery life and replacement recommendations.
As a rechargeable battery wears out, its charge time decreases. For example, the new battery that used to be able to power your laptop for six hours may now only provide three to four hours of running time.
You can extend the working life of your battery pack by reducing the number of charge cycles.

Try to replace the battery for that my friend. being unused for several months then suddenly charging overnyt would really do damage that we dont think is conceiveable.
anyway, to change the batteries for that, here is a very helpful video on how to replace the battery for your ZEN player.
a new battery costs around 30 dollars.
just do be careful not do damage your player while changing the battery ok.
hope this helps
