Question about LG 60PC1DC 60 in. Plasma HDTV

1 Answer

I have an LG 60PC1D, and recently I turned it on and the picture looks as though it's 'ghosting'. Colors are VERY dim, and minimal, at best. It's hard to read the screen to check settings. Tried different settings, channels, and a Blue-Ray movie. Nothing helped.

Sounds like bad ZSus board, but may also be YSus - hard to tell from the description.

Replace ZSus board in the TV and if that doesn't help replace YSus board.

    Now, that's a solution.

Something tells me you aren't going to like it either.

Let me see...maybe you don't know what YSUS and ZSUS are?

OK, here's another solution: google for YSUS 60PC1D and/or ZSUS 60PC1D and on the first page of the results you'll come accross refernces to the boards, maybe even pictures.

What else could you not like? Hmm, let's see...the fact that I do not tell you which of the two is actually at fault.

    Can't help with that, sorry.

Perhaps my tone/attitude? People sometimes have a problem with that too. And I am aware of it. Oddly enough, I have also noticed that it is mostly people who have highest expectations and lowest will to pay for knowledge that are type that usually has the attitude problem.

You may be an exception, I do not know...just trying to understand what do you actually want for your money.

No, wait...the question is what do you want for free?

We have a LG Plasma TV; 60PC1D and are having a problem with it. When we try to turn it on, it goes from red then white twice, then back to red and will not come on. Thank you

You can only hope that this is a power supply issue which can be determined by visual inspection. If capacitors in the power supply are bulging it can be repaired reasonably, otherwise, you are probably looking at the y-sustain and z-sustain pcb's. This is a very expensive repair. First, have someone check the power supply for bad capacitors, which you can usually see if they are bulging or domed. Then you can decide to repair or replace the set. A power supply repair should cost 150-250 at a reasonable shop. The other boards replacement would be 450-650 us dollars. I'm just trying to give you my best guess... for free. Good luck, Russmann.

Heard a pop noise from LG 60PC1D tv, tv shut off and now the picture looks like a negative kind of...what is wrong?

Capacitor on the power supply popped and it is not allowing the proper voltage to be reached to the main board. This is messing up your picture. I would repair it before you create more damage from the blown capacitor on the power supply.

Please rate if this helped :)

What do the capacitors look like in the LG 60PC1D 60 in plasma TVs? is there a picture? I am having a problem with tv not starting. i have the back panel off the TV. I see some coils that look to have...

please be very careful with capacitors - they can retain their charge long after the power has been switched off and can deliver nasty (even fatal) shocks.

They look like little oil drums and are located on the mother board.

I have had some problems with tvs taking a long time to start, turned out to be capacitors in the power supply. They leak, sometimes swell up. A kean eye may spot them. not a job for a vovice though.

LG 60PC1D making clicking sounds

A common problem for these is bad capacitors in the power supply, Remove the back from your Tv and look at the power supply on the left hand side.

You will see roughly around 9 x capacitors that are bulged / domed shaped on top usually these are valued at 3300uf 10V any that have bulged or leaked a brown like substance should be changed.
This will cure the problem as they overheat being sat next to a heatsink that gets very hot!
Try and change them for the same 3300uf but a higher voltage.
Hope this helps

61" plasam TV will not turn on

This is one of two problems, Bad capacitors in the power supply or your Y Sustain board has failed, I would go for the first, take the back off your tv and look for swollen or domed shaped capacitors on the power supply, They may also leak a brown liquid like substance.
Replace all that you can see and this should cure the fault.

Red and blue ghosting,

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Flickering, sparkeling, ghosting, you name it. Related to electricity in house?

No, it is not the electricity in your house, I had the same problem. Send it back to Samsung and get a new one. I have had to send my monitor back 4 times!
