DS powers off during play

My son will play for only a minute or so and it powers off. Just started happening. Whatt could be the problem? It is two years old and has been used quite a bit. It does have the crack on the hinge that has been mentioned in other postings, but seems cosmetic. Please help.

There is a ribbon cable that runs through the hinge. If the hinge is damaged, the ribbon cable can easily be damaged. If the ribbon cable is only slightly damaged, then movement will cause it to break the connection. When it loses connection, it will power off. You can test this by moving the top screen up and down a bunch to see if it shuts off more while doing this. To fix this problem, you will need a new top LCD screen installed by a qualified technician. The cost of the part is around $15, so use that as a baseline to know if you are getting a good price. Also, do not trust anyone without either credentials or experience, or they will very likely damage the console further.

contact nintentdo and the game provider and if you have a warranty on the DS great! they will give you a new one and or repair it and the game provider will replace the game if your son tells then what level he was they can pre-program it for you and he wont loose his data

We think a neighbor girl spilled liquid on/in my son's DS Lite. It now won't power on and the orange light will stay on for only a minute or two when we attempt to charge the unit. The battery is good......

If the DS was turned on when the liquid was spilled on it I don't think there is much hope to be honest:(

If it's under warrenty send it back otherwise you might try taking it apart and use a hair dryer to dry it off... that's a long shot though!

DS lite freezes during game play

their are 3 solutions but i cant asure that it will work
1. maybe when they play ds games like pac n roll the ds cardejects for some reason so sulution 1 is put tape ontop of the ds gamecard slot while their playin a ds game
2 maybe when they play a gba game the game pak is being hit by their chests or bellies so the card is moving a bit and the game freezes so put a big distance between the ds and the chest or belly
3. dont wiggle the ds alot and do you drop it often because if it is dropt often the ds will freeze often

Nintendo DS lite power light comes on but both screens stay dark?

When you boot the Nintendo DS you can change the illumination settings in the main menu.
One the main menu, you will find a sunny symbol in the lower left corner of the screen. Click on that and you should be able to change the level of illumination. If you are also wondering if you can change the brightness during game play, you can't. Games such as Mario 64 DS come with support for brightness change but otherwise you have to do it before game play.

DS lite, power is on but nothing happens

Ditto... except my daughter is 10. Both screens remain black, are fully charged and green light stays on for more than 4 minutes.

Nintendo ds games

you need to go into the system itself and delete files from the DS itself. The DS has the capability to save files. when the game starts up, go into systems and you should be able to find where the files are and start to delete some.
