I purchased a Everstar MPM2-10CE-BB6 from Home Depot late summer and when we used it there was a strong odor coming from it. Now it's time to get it out again and we have the same odor. Can you tell me what this is? It almost smells like burnt wires. It has set all winter in the house and it smells without even turning it on. Help???

check temperature setting and the mode on cool if ok check the compressor is working with condenser fan if are working the unit has a loss of refrigerant . if the compressor is not working and voltage is correct may be the capacitor need replacement
Same thing happened a few weeks ago. My wife said " its not cooling". I read the manual and it says., Clean filters ...we did and hello. works fine. She was so frustrated she was going to take it back. These filters accummulate dust fast. So check there first. Hope this helps.
I would lkike to know where to get replacement filters or an extension exhaust duct.
I just purchased a 11,000 BTU Everstar from Home Depot. Not sure if it's the same model that you have. Maybe check there? I bet an employee would be willing to open one of the boxes to answer your question. Just tell them you bought it there. :) Or call Everstar, of course. Good luck!
