Your employer's "chief information technology officer" has set a password for the wireless network -- employees are authorized to know the password, but non-employees won't be allowed to know the password.

Ask your local I.T. officer to tell you the password (or "key").

Hi,
For security reasons, the wifi router is always configured with a key. This will prevent unauthorized persons to access the internet via your wifi router.
You have to ask the administrator who configured router to get the key and you have to provide the saem when prompted in your computer/laptop in order to connect to your office router.

I hope this is helpful for you.
Thanks

I have linked it up to the pc but you cant connect to the device wirelessly

Have you run the setup wizard on the D-Link Wireless Router? Either via the the software cd provided, or by logging into the router and doing the basic setup?

An unconfigured D-Link router usually allows you to connect to it without requiring a wireless key. If it is asking for a password, it is possible that you have already specified one during the configuration of the router. Please make sure that you have correctly enter in the key you specified.

I cant figure out where the pin number

Are you trying to connect to the wireless network on a WINDOWS VISTA / 7 computer? Sometimes on the windows vista computer , it will ask you for the PIN number when you try to connect to the wireless network. On the same window at the bottom you will find the option " I want to connect to the network or I want to enter the key manually". If you click on that option , it will ask you for the security key.
If you don't know the security key, then you will need to check the settings of the router. You will need to open the router set up page where you can check all the wireless settings of teh router. If you want, you can also find the PIN on the wireless settings page of the router.
If you are trying to connect any other wireless device to the network and it is asking you for the PIN then you will need to open the set up page of the router and under wireless settings you will find PIN.

My husband bought a dlink router (it says dgl-4500 on it) and i cant figure out how to use it to get wireless internet for my new laptop....i have three "codes" he wrote down- a "router pass", a "network...

Router password is the password to access the router settings.
SSID is the network name. When you try to connect to the wireless network on your laptop, you will see this network name.
If your network is secured network then it will ask you for the network key or the password. You need to enter the ' security key '.

I cant connect a wireless adapter for xbox live it keeps asking for a wep key i dont know it how do i get it i have a netgear wireless router WGR614. can anyone help?

Your WEP key is the key (or passcode) you entered when you (or someone) set up your wireless router. If you didn't set it you need to ask whoever set up your router.

I cant lock my wireless router.

Ok, to put a WEP key from our router. You need to configure it, by doing that you need ethernet cable (cat 5). You need to connect your pc to your router using cat5 cable. After you've done that, open your internet explorer/firefox ect., and enter your router's ip address (router ip address can be found in manual or at the back of your router). You will be ask for username and password, just key in if you have one, otherwise just enter the default (mostly, username:admin ; password: none/blank ; depends on manufacturer). After you've done that, go to SETUP menu, and go to Wireless setup you can enable WEP key there, just choose your options. Just try it, I hope it helps you.

Cant Aquire IP Address Wirelessly

try this... connect the laptop directly to the router using a cable. get into the router interface and disable the wep security. Once it is disabled try connecting the laptop. your computer will ask you that network is not secured and ask if you want to connect anyway. just connect your laptop without the WEP key, if it connects, just go ahead and enable the security again. hope this helps.
