Sounds like you may have abad lid switch, not always making contact to tel the unit the lid is closed therefore for safety resons the machine will not spn/ and or drain water.. does it seem to start when you lift and drop the lid assy after checking? you oshould hear a "click" indicating the switch is been made

Could be that the pump is binding which will eat belts up pretty quick, feel the belt and make sure it is not slipping and that it isn't all greasy and grimmy

Check if machine if leveled . Or maybe ,check shock absorbers .

Clothing cannot get into the drum housing. Noises which occur during the spin cycle suggest that the drum is being thrown of balance during the spin cycle. A possible cause of this is that the bracket which holds the drum to the spindle is partially broken. This bracket consists of 3 or 4 arms and eventually one or more arms will crack and break (this is a result of the interaction between the steel drum, aluminium bracket and electricty, which weakens aluminium over a period of time). If the machine is not examined and repaired, then the drum noise will get worse and the drum will start to knock & rub against other parts, especially the water heating element and this will result in a more costly repair.

My washer goes into spin cycle byitself and when washing,if u r in spin cycle it sets for 14 mins thats good 4 mins into spin all knob lights start flashing and the screen says uL

One thing to understand is that this is a difficult problem to pin down and may end up requiring the control board to be replaced.

The UL or unbalanced load error is displayed when the control board senses an out of balanced load.

You don't indicate if the washer is actually out of balanced or not when the code appears but the description of banging and shaking would indicate it is out of balanced.

If the washer consistently bangs and shakes in spin then I's suggest you remove the spin basket and check under it for obstructions that might prevent the washer from spinning smoothly.

Too much water after was is finished

your drain pump is probably clogged or the main drian hose is kinked

Washer has started making a heck of racket during the drain/spin cycle. It's not consistant. Two loads may go thru ok no noise. A third load and it will make a very loud grinding chain like noise.

Grinding noises are most often the result of a failing water pump. The noise can increase during the spin\drain cycle due to the added load on the pump. Although less likely it could also be the drive belt rubbing on something or a pulley bearing failing. If you are able to locate and remove the drive belt, you should be able to turn the water pump pulley by hand. If the pump does not turn smoothly it is bad.

SPIN CYCLE DOES NOT WORK

If the motor is running and the water gets pumped out but no spin, it probably needs a thrust bearing kit, which consists of a new pully, bearing and cam.

replace water level knob on whirlpool GSW9650LW We got this machine at a garage sale and it works well, but it is missing the knob that controls the water level, so it can only do small loads. I've ordered a replacement knob, (part no 8538957) on ebay. Will this be difficult to install? It's hard to see how a new knob will attach properly.

stinky inner washer tub How do you remove the plastic filter on the under side of the inner washer tub? There is residue and crud built up between the plastic and the metal tub. It looks like the tabs can be released but the don't release easily. I'm afraid that the plastic is brittle and will break. If it does break can I just buy the plastic filter or do I have to buy a whole new tub?
