PUH680 Heater Just Bought - Questions

PUH680 - I lost the Manual. What's the difference between the #1 setting and the #2 setting? Is the light supposed to always stay on when the heater's plugged in? Am I supposed to unplug it when I'm not using it? Why doesn't the fan go on until I turn the dial all the way to the top? Does it heat before the fan goes on?

What do you think about them charging for assistance? I can't believe it.

I was taken to a cite that asked for a credit card before it would respond to my question. After much effort,I eventually found a place to communicate comments. This was not the cite for answering questions. Try it.

MILKHOUSE HEATER "CAUTION LIGHT" SOLUTION: Before I explain, let me clear this myth up: this is NOT an issue with the pendulum safety switch (some mistake that for a "mercury" switch). To begin, unplug the heater. Open it up and clean it out. I mean, buy a can of non-chlorinated brake cleaner and squirt all of the contacts good. Below the fan there is a sensor mounted on the heater element box on the bottom. That goes bad and causes it to trip. While you are there, squirt the motor bushings good with the brake cleaner and dab a drop of synthetic motor oil (just a drop) on EACH of the two motor bushings. Personally, I rewired this and bypassed all of the safety features. You can bypass that sensor without soldering or cutting any wires. All you have to do is unscrew the wires from the holder and then unscrew the tiny nuts and tiny bolts. Then bolt the together at one end (note the position) and put it back in the holder and tighten the screw to hold it in. This method fixes the issue completely as it removes the sensor from the equation. In fact, I just did that on my third milkhouse heater and it has been running solid for the last 15 minutes. Use your modified heater with caution! Let the brake cleaner dry before you energize this device!

Thank you -- my question was much the same and this was helpful. However, I kind of remember some instructions for setting the thermostat at the desired level, but not really. Is there any way of obtaining replacement operating instructions?

Heat 1 & 2

Typically 'Heat 1' means first stage heat and 'Heat 2' means second stage heat. Essentially a Lo and Hi setting. Just like a hair dryer.

CAN THIS HEATER CAUSE AFIRE AND IS THIS HEATER ON RECALL PATTON PUH680-U

I do not know if this heater is on any product recall but we have used patton heaters for years and pretty much have had good luck with them. However there is a fire hazard present if you set or store combustibles to close to the front.Tip over switches don't always work and I would never recommend using a heater of this type in a unsupervised area.I hope this is of some help to you. Thank you and happy holidays.

My Spedometer and Tacometer have stopped functioning.

Sounds like a ground problem.Questions:
1) Do you have electrical or electronic troubleshooting skills and tools?
2) Can you read schematics?
3) Are you comfortable removing instrument cluster and working behind dashboard if necessary?

If all the above are true, then I might be able to hook you up with the help you need. However, it might be too much to post here.

Heater coils on a aloha utility heater lights up

It is typical for the elements to glow. The glowing is caused from the high amount of electrical flow through the coils. It is the same principal of how some light bulbs work.
