Error code 5100 /this error is an error within the printer. This error means that there is
something obstructing the printing process. Check inside your printer through the gears that
you can see under the lid. There should be something obstructing the gears such as dirt or

I would do all of the following and see if yo can clear this code. It is
not on any Canon list of possible codes, so I have no idea what it
means., but let's do this: Turn off the printer and unplug it. Remove
the print cartridges. Look at them, are they leak free? Look into the
cartridge holders. Are they clean?. Dried ink or blobs should be cleaned
off with a little alcohol and a Qtip. Are the little wire holders bent or broken? Do they look exactly the same? Turn the printer back on reinstall the cartridges.Check in your printer preferences/services and clean your cartridges.
Turn the printer back on reinstall the cartridges.Check in your printer preferences/services and clean your cartridges. Now
turn it off again and unplug it. Open the paper jam door and gently
push the paper roller forward until it clicks. At the same time, look

Hi You can Try
Error Code 5100
Solution 1: Clean the timing strip.
Solution 2: The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) may be not lubricated well enough . And Also Lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps); this repair probably require to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism.
First of all, make sure you pay attention to when your warranty expires, because this error tends to repeat and you get disgusted and request warranty support only too late. The problem is probably caused by a sticky paper sensor, but the printer must be turned off and turned back on to reset. If it persists in displaying the error, then you should lift open the main part (scanner) look carefully in the back right for the black plastic piece that is the paper sensor and poke it with a narrow scissors or something to nudge it back down. Then turn it back on and hopefully it clears the error. However, if that's the problem then it will likely recur.
