I am unsure of the EXACT steps but yes you cab BYPASS the alignment process.
If you print photographs however the MINOR misalignment may be an issue as mentioned previously by Rulds.
For most general purposes it should however not be an issue.
My Lexmark X2500 All In One printer will not come on at all. The contacts where the power cord is inserted were bent pushed back and were not making contact but I put them back in place and it still will not power up. Does anyone know what the problem may be and how to fix it?
Say you did get around to bypassing this step. Your printer will be so horribly mis alligned. So your answer is no. I would not instruct someone to bypass instructions that is given by a printer. if the scanner is dead then repair needs to be done before you have more issues with the print heads. I mean face it if there was a way to bypass you would have the answer. But to be truethfull here I would say no and leave it at that and hope for your ratings to be forthcomming.
Thanks

I have a lexmark and have worked on them in the past, present and future. There will be a noticeable change if you bypass a allignment and see speaking of this no expert knows how to bypass it on here. If there was such a bypass we would see that bob came up with this solution. But since I wear the lexmark bange I will hope you trust your gut feelings on here.
Thanks

Open up the "Printer Solution Center." If there is no icon on your desktop for your Lexmark printer, click on the "Start" menu button, which is located at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. Click on "All Programs," and then look for "Lexmark." Select the "Printer Solution Center.
Choose "Install a new printer cartridge" under the "Maintenance" tab.
Click on "Next" until you see the "Print the Alignment page" option, then choose "Print."
Repeat steps 1,2 and 3 if the ink level gauge still isn't showing sufficient ink.
Did you try to align the unit manually or with the computer?
Alignment page does not print
1 Make sure you remove the sticker and transparent tape from both print
cartridges.
2 Make sure the color print cartridge is secure in the left carrier and the black
print cartridge is secure in the right carrier.
3 Make sure you loaded the paper correctly and did not force the paper into
the printer.
Aligning your print cartridges without a computer

An alignment page prints.
2 Place the printed alignment page onto the scanner glass.
