Hi! I have a Hayward Pro pool/spa system with Jandy valves and I'm trying to figure out how to switch them from pool to spa. Either I empty the spa or I'm heating the whole pool. Help please!

This is tough cause I can't see the valve setup. I have to assume they are manual valves. Normal operation probably takes some water out of the pool and spa than puts it back into both. To heat the spa, set the intake valves(the ones in front of pump) to take water from only the spa. Set the jets(valve(s) on output side of filter) to send water back to only the spa. The pool will be out of the loop. Normal operation usually has water taken out of pool and spa than put back into both. Make sure to put more water back into spa than you take out, (Adjust valve)

I have a Jandy Aqualink pool system. When I turn on the spa and heater, the spa drains..I've never had this happen but don't use the spa much. What should I check?

His is not typically a control panel issue but more likely a valve issue.

Your valves are set as follows wih a few minor variations.....
Pool mode- sucks from pool skimmer and or pool vac line and returns water to both the pool and spa.
Spa mode - self contains the spa , meaning water is sucked from the spa and returned only to the spa.
If your spa is draining then most likely one of your electronic valves is failing...most likely it's the return valve so what is happening is the water is sucked from the spa and returned to the pool instead of self containing the spa.
Easy check is to be next to the equip when spa mode is selected and two valves should move and align properly, the return side valve is most likely not moving or it is not moving into the correct position.
The fix is either adjusting the valve acuator or buying a new valve acuator.
Another thing to check is on the main panel circuit board to ensure the return and auction 3 pin plug ins are still connected.

The Spa Mode emptied the spa water into the pool so the pool level is too high and I cant get the spa to refill.

You RETURN side valve actuator has malfunctioned and did not move into the spa return position. Most actuators have a toggle switch on them where you can over ride the system.
The 3 positions are; normal, off, and reverse. You can check to see how the valve is moving by flipping the toggle switch. If the actuator is more than 10-12 years old it may need to be replaced. Actuators are standardized between manufacturers and new ones will run about $120, easy to change out.

My Jandy Link control panel model 8157 turns on spa by itsself. It is not programmed to do so. Its says low battery. Can thisbethe cause?

No. Make sure there are no programs for the spa. Double check this. I assume this is a pool/spa combination. If so, check the valve actuators at the pool equipment. Do this by manually turning on the pool with your Remote control unit. There should be no water disturbance in the spa. If so, your valve actuators need to be reset. There is a metal toggle switch on the back of each valve that you can switch to set the valves to pool or spa.

*********** board at the equipment may also be the culprit. Try resetting it by pressing the small recessed reset button on the front of the panel with the tip of a pencil or pen. If neither of these slove your problem you probably need a new mother board. They are very expensive. Check to see if yours is still under warranty. Your builder can tell you this or you can email or call Jandy with your model and serial number found on the back of the board. Good Luck

I have a Jandy Aqualink rs unit in the house attached to wires. My problem when I put my unit on auto, I have found it to switch to the spa program and empty the water out of my spa. What do I have to do...

Try this. On the suction valve their is a JVA... actuator and on the end of it their is a small toggle switch and all you have to do is change the position of this. Hope this helps.

Jandy aqualink rs4: pool has been winterized with the spa left on. when switched from service mode into auto mode system switches back from spa into pool mode (motorized valve switches back to pool mode)....

the only thing you can do since the jandy does not have a "winter" mode is switch the valves off. Once you have the valves in spa mode, there should be a toggle switch on the valve actuators. You can set the switches to the middle position and that will lock them in that position. You will probably have to re-winterize the pool lines.

My jacuzzi keeps emptying into the pool when the pump switches off and then refills from the pool when the pump comes on - do you know what the problem is?

I agree it sounds like a check valve. if the water in the pool matches the water level in the spa, or drains all the way (depending on how far the spa is raised) then it is the valve before the pump, but if it goes down to the jets (and not any further) then it is a check valve or valve on the retun side of the plumbing ( after heater or chlorinator).
