My Maytag Performa washer loves to flood the house!!!!

My Maytag Performa washer gets stuck on the rinse cycle and will overflow and flood the laundry room if you don't catch it. Seems like the timer gets stuck. Even if that were the case should'nt it know how much water is needed to fill the tub depending on the load size that is selected? How can I fix this?

If it is, in fact, overfilling on rinse it means your water valve is still getting the signal to fill so, you have to replace the control board, because the board is still sending FILL signal to water valve.

I HAVE A MAYTAG PERFORMA WASHER MODEL#pav3240. the washer continues to fill during rinse cycle and overflows the top. If i turn to spin cycle water drains out and machine goes through cycles. it seems like...

Clean out the water-level switch air dome tube AND the the connection to the tub where the tube connects. It may well be full of gunk and not allowing the water level switch to react quickly enough.

The washer keeps filling and won't stop. Sometimes can get it to stop on the wash cycle but won't stop filling at all on the rinse cycle. Any solutions?

I get this question a lot. Washer is flooding the house, water everywhere, won't stop. The first thing I say is unplug the washer. If the water is still coming in,(which it will on a stuck valve) shut off the water faucets. If that is not possible shut the water meter off. If you can stop the washer with the timer then I would say instead of a bad valve you have a plugged water level pressure hose. Look at this diagram: water%20level%20operation.jpg As you can see the rubber tube from the bottom of the tub allows air pressure to push against the switch till it shuts down the valve and starts the wash cycle. Remedy this problem: Simply remove the tube from the switch and blow it out. Use them lungs!. Get that sand and trash out of the sump. Reconnect the hose tightly and pump out any standing water. Then restart the machine. If you have a good tight connection the machine should start working like normal. No parts needed! LOL!

Maytag Performa will not drain

If this is a direct drive washer (no belts) you have a bad water pump or a sock has gotten sucked in to stop it up. get under it look for two hoses going to a white looking valve. If you pull the hoses look out for all the water to flood out so be preped. Pull the pump out and ck for sock or fuzz in it then try to turn to trun by hand if its hard its bad. repost if need more help.

Washer will only go threw certain cycles

i have a kitchenaid washer that does the same thing! it has flooded my entire house on more than one occasion & i mean really flooded! i absolutely hate mine. it gets stuck right before the rinse cycle & then won't drain the water from the wash cycle & starts refilling to rinse & never stops. it just overflows continuously. i personally think that it's a sensor or something. i had a repair man come out when it was still under warranty & they claimed there was nothing wrong w/it. i putting it on the curb this weekend & getting a new one. i don't think that i have ever hated an appliance as much as this one!!!

I own a Maytag Performa 4 Speed/24 cycle Washing machine. it is 4 years old. Problem: A very LOUD grinding sound when washer engages into wash, rinse, spin cycles. The Tub does agitate - but I don't...

sounds like you have a tub seal problem, which took out the bearings, I take it one buzy mom does lots of laundry! Maybe time for a new washer.

Maytag performa series washer

I purchased a Maytag Performa washer in 2003 and experienced the same thing. A service call found a loose electrical connection behind the switch panel. The washer has worked fine since.
Hope this helps.

Water overflow

Are you on a well? Often people with a lot of sediment in water get sick of the screens in water valve plugging up so they remove them. NEVER remove these screens. If any sediment gets into valve it can hold it open causing flooding. If you unplug unit and water still comes in you must replace valve.
