That is REALLY odd that you have a home theater with no audio inputs. If there are no input jacks then how WOULD you expect to be able to input sound? Splicing wires and such would produce poor sound quality.

Coby DVD765 Theater System and can't control the TV volume through it...I saw the previous post...We have it in our bedroom and rarely watch DVDs in there. Could I plug my RCA audio cables into some of...

The connections will have to go directly into your tv set. On your tv, you should have 3 connnecting points. Red, White and Yellow. On your Theatre system amplifier you should have audio outputs like CD, AUX, etc. Pick one of these outputs and connect to your Red and White RCA on the tv set. Next, connect the DVD player's audio to dvd on your amplifier under the DVD connection. Your VIDEO (yellow) Cable should still go to your tv directly from the DVD player. Now, if you want to listen to the TV channels throug the system, simply select the channel that you pluged the TV audio into. Hope this helps.

The audio will not play through the tv from the home theatre unit

because you do not have the dvd player hooked up to the tv, if you want it to play through the tv then you need to have the dvd player connected to the tv.

I CAN NOT GET ALL 5 SPEAKERS TO WORK

I know this is not the answer that you want to hear, but: That television is not capable of delivering audio output to all 5 speakers - it is a stereo-only TV, which only delivers 2 channels.

Furthermore, that Coby DVD-937 only has Digital Audio outputs rather than inputs, which is very strange and complicates our problem immensely. You will get 5-channels with DVD or radio play, but getting 5 channels for TV is not possible without additional equipment.

The manual for the Coby mentions a "Digital Decoder Amplifier," which would work. You would connect a digital audio cable from the area marked "Coaxial" on the back of the Coby to a digital audio IN on the back of an external amplifier. You would connect the speakers to this amplifier, instead of directly to the back of the Coby. Then you would need a cable or satellite box with digital audio outs (fairly common nowadays) to another digital audio IN on the back of the amplifier. The cable or sat box you may have already, but you may need to purchase such a "Digital Decoder Amplifier" or other digital amplifier with appropriate speaker wires and 2 digital audio input slots (not to mention two digital audio cables). Fairly complex. Possibly expensive.

No surround sound through tv

May be you have to set the Pro-logic option soundfield, this will matrix a 5.1 surround sound effect, unless of course you are sending a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio signal from your TV broadcast into the Home theatre system, also have to check the TV audio output to send audio output to a Home theatre system in other than 2 channel stereo.

How to use DVD player along with cable box wih this tv

The audio out jacks in the back of the cable box can support up to 5.1 channels of audio to a home theater system. Take the DVD player and plug it into the TV with only the video cable and the audio cables into the theater syste. If you have and questions you can ask and if pictures are needed than I can post them.
