Hi there,
You will need to set the drives on the other networked PCs as "shared" before they will be visible on the network. You can do this by right clicking on the drives (while on the other computers) and going into the "sharing" tab. You must enable sharing and then set a name for the drive or folder you want to share. You can either share the entire drive or a specific folder, I recommend limiting the sharing to a specific folder instead of a whole drive for security purposes.

Happy sharing!

As long as it has a either a wireless card in the back or a usb wireless receiver it should be able to connect wirelessly with other pcs on your network.

Dell dimension 2400 network adapter driver

The Dell Dimension 2400 drivers are available here: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/product/dimension-2400 . Use another computer to visit the site and make sure that Microsoft XP shows in the OS search drop down. Expand the section labeled Network. The wired network adapter is a Broadcom 4401. The direct link to the latest driver (V. 3.63 released 8/5/2003) page is http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/dimension-2400?driverId=R64645&osCode=WW1&fileId=2731129724&languageCode=en&categoryId=NI .

A more recent driver for XP is available from Broadcom at: http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/4401.php . Select the driver for the 32-bit version for XP.

I hope this helps.

Hi there, On your laptop that can get on the internet, go to www.dell.com/support and download drivers for your Network Card and your Video Card from that site. Make sure you put in the right model number (dimension 2400). Transfer them to a USB key, and move the USB key to your desktop. Install those drivers and everything work will again. You may need to install additional ones as you see other things not working (like audio). If you need more help, let me know. -Alex

Previously, my D Link Wireless, installed in my Dell Dimension 2400, worked just fine. We moved and now it doesn't see any wireless connections (yet my laptop is working fine). The error message has to do...

You may do a right click on the WLAN card in the network connections window
Then click on "Properties"
Then click on "Configure"
Then click on "Power Management"
There would be a check box over there "Allow the computer to turn OFF this device to save power"
Uncheck that box and restart the computer.
Hopefully, it should resolve the concern for you.

Hello im troubleshooting a error on a dell dimension 2400, windows xp error when testing or querying the modem the error reads cannot connect or check to see if hardware is powered on or connected...

Wireless zero configuration is the feature of Windows XP that allows Windows to detect the available wireless networks and automatically connect to the most preferred wireless network.

It is enabled by the Wireless Zero Configuration service in Windows XP. It provides auto wireless network detection when you switch on the computer.
Follow the steps below to verify that the service is running:
1. Go to Start and right click My Computer. Select and click Manage.
2. Computer Management window will appear. Under Services and Applications, select Services.
3. Check for the service Wireless Zero Configuration. Make sure that it is started and that the startup type is set to automatic.
computer-management.jpg4. If it isn't, double-click the service. If the startup type is not set to automatic, click on the dropdown arrow and and change it to automatic. Click OK at last.
autostart-wireless-zero.jpgIf your wireless adapter driver does not support wireless auto onfiguration, you will notice the following:
- The network adapter does not appear as a wireless network adapter in Network Connections. It appears as a LAN adapter, similar to an Ethernet connection.
- The properties of the wireless connection do not have a Wireless Networks tab.
- You do not receive a Windows XP notification bar message indicating that wireless networks are available.
To get the most out of your Windows XP wireless experience, you should contact wireless adapter manufacturer to obtain the latest version of the drivers that support this XP feature.
If not, you must manually configure wireless network settings using the configuration software supplied with the wireless network adapter.

The 10/100 Integrated controller is the onboard network card

That basically mean yes it does have a network card built onto the motherboard.
