You're putting them in the right way, right?

I have had this problem once or twice. Try unplugging the console from the wall socket for a minute, then plug it back in.

Another thing you must do is update the system's firmware. I believe you need an internet connection on your console for this, but you may be able to get a disc from Nintendo with the firmware.

I just plugged in my wii and got it connected it says unable to read the disc I have followed cleaning the disc and trying brand new games, nothing seems to be reading

The laser needs to be either cleaned or replaced. The cleaning kits you buy from the store usually doesn't work so I would recommend saving your money.

If you need the Wii laser and willing to repair the system yourself, we can provide the part to you to install.

If you are not one to do it yourself and take the system apart, we repair video game consoles and get systems from all over the nation. Just look up Wired Extreme on Google.

I bought Super Mario Smash Bros Brawl game for nintendo wii. I keep getting a message saying unable to read disc, it is a brand new disc and all my other games work perfectly. However this is the second of...

The reason for this is that the "eye" in your Wii to read the disc is too dusty to read the disc, as it is a 2 layered disc. Call up Nintendo and ask them for help, they will tell you what to do and they will clean out your Wii for free.

Wii unable to read gamecube disc... :(

If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. Wont read discs

If it only does this for this one game, you may have a defective game disc, it happens. Often, if you have just recently purchased it, you can return it to the store and tell them that it was defective and get a new one. If not, you can always try cleaning it though I doubt that's the problem.
nintendo.com says "If after reading the above information you are still unable to play a game disc, please call 1-800-255-3700 to discuss available options."
