Step 1. Go here to download the correct dirver http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=recommendedDownloads&locale=en&productCode=LEXMARK_X1240&segment=DOWNLOAD&userlocale=EN_US#1

Step 2. Unplug your printer from your computer

Step 3. Run the program that you downloaded, you may or may not be asked to plug in your printer.

Step 4. Plug in your printer, your OS should recognize the printer now.

Yes you install without the disk ,first you need to click here
then type X1240 you get option lexmark X1240 ...and then choose the OS and download the driver file and install in on your computer ......

Lost start-up CD for my Lexmark x1240

You can probably contact technical support via lexmark.com for a replacement. Or you can download the driver from the site. Go to www.lexmark.com and click on DRIVERS AND DOWNLOADS. Then use the DRIVER FINDER. In SEARCH BY MODEL, type in x1240 and you can choose a driver from there.

Ihave lost my software and need to reinstall my printer. Can it be done without the software ? The printer is a Lexmark X1240.

Sure, go to LexMark's website here:

http://downloads.lexmark.com/perl/downloads/downloads.cgi

Select your regional information, then put in x1240 in the search box. Drivers for your printer will show up, download and run the program.
