  1. make a sale entry in tally
  2. Export the voucher from tally in xml format (this is to give u how the xml looks)
  3. Open the excel file where all the data is ther.
  4. open a word file, so that we can prepare the xml for mutiple vouchers. For this we will use Mail Merge facility
  5. in the XML which we did in step two, copy the data from "<TALLYMESSAGE xmlns:UDF="TallyUDF">" till the </TALLYMESSAGE>
  6. Now open the word file, go to mail merger, select the fields which needs to be changed, that is the Debtors and the amount (for normal sale entries) which should change for every sale voucher.
  7. create the mail merge.
  8. copy the data what you got in word file to a note pad and name it as sample.
  9. open again the step 2 - copy data from " <ENVELOPE> to <REQUESTDATA>" and paste in the begining of the notepad sample
  10. go the end of the notepad sample and copy the data from first file -"step 2" from " </REQUESTDATA> to </ENVELOPE>" and save the file
  11. Open tally
  12. go to import vocuhers
  13. specify the path of the notepad sample and yes ur data got imported.

Import TALLY Data / Export TALLY Data
Tally allows users to Import data from other software's as well as Export data from Tally to other software's. Tally allows users to Import and Export in ASCII, SDF and XML formats. XML is now the most widely used format of exporting data in the world. Any transactions can be exported from Tally and imported in other software after suitably altering the current structures to accept Tally data structure. The reverse is also possible by writing a small TDL program to accept the data from other software's. The data that is to be imported into Tally can be in either XML or DBF format. Easy Tally data transfer or Tally data migration from Tally 4.5 & Tally 5.4 to Tally 6.3 , Tally 7.2 , etc.
ODBC COMPLIANCE ALLOWS OTHER PROGRAMS TO USE DATA FROM TALLY DIRECTLY. E.G. : MS-EXCEL :
ODBC - OPEN DATABASE CONNECTIVITY
Tally is now ODBC compliant. Hence, any program like MS-Excel, Oracle etc that is ODBC compliant can use data from Tally. Here, data connectivity is dynamic i.e. any new updation in Tally is reflected in other ODBC Compliant Software immediately. Now, with ODBC facility the user can extract data out of Tally and design his own report formats in other ODBC compliant software's.
Procedure :
Now, Load Company -> specify period -> minimize Tally -> Open a new Excel file -> select data -> select 'Get External Data' -> select New database query -> choose Data Source
Tally connects to data source and displays Tally Wizard query screen -> select the columns you would want to include in the query.
Once all the columns are selected, the user returns to excel and excel displays all the columns selected
Graphical Analysis of Tally Data
Sometimes, pictures can say better than figures. Tally also provides graphical (Bar graph) analysis of data. The user can do a graphical analysis reports like Sales register, Purchase register, Ledgers, Funds flow, Cash flow, Item registers etc. This helps the user in deeper analysis of data. In Tally, a graphical analysis can also show month wise graphs for the year in comparison with any other period. This will help the management in quickly locating the highs and lean periods in a financial year and hence be better prepared for difficult times.
Web Enabled
Tally ees 6.3 is now Web enabled. This will help the user in reducing his paper work further. Now, report in Tally can be e-mailed directly from Tally. It is not just reports, but even invoices and purchase orders can also be e-mailed directly from Tally. Hence, the user does not have to send printed invoice or purchase orders from Tally.
Procedure :
Select any report (e.g. Balance sheet) -> select Alt+M (E-mail) -> specify all details as required by Tally
Ability to Publish Reports and Documents on the Internet
Now, Tally allows users to upload reports on the web site directly from Tally. So companies that would want to publish reports on the web site can do so directly from Tally. Many companies would also like to publish their price list on their websites along with the product they deal with.
Procedure :
Select any report (Profit and Loss A/C) -> select Upload (Alt + O) -> specify all details as required by Tally.
Direct Internet Access
Tally now offers direct Internet access. A Tally user while working on Tally can directly log on to tally website get details of all the facilities offered by Tally. Add a excel format in tally

Sir,

What to Export ?
Tally has a facility to export its data to other applications like spreadsheets, word processing software and other database software. Export of data is provided mainly for summaries and statement reports like Trial Balance, Stock Summary, etc. You can export it to another company using Tally that will import it directly.

How to Export?
You can export all reports and statements. For this a separate export button is provided in right hand button bar. To do this go to any report e.g. day book you to export or any statement e.g. balance sheet. You would see export button on top right hand side on button bar. Press it and a screen would pop up with export related options.

The first option is format of data to be exported namely ASCII, HTML, SDF, and XML. Which ever application you are importing this data in would decide in which format you should export the data.
For statements like balance sheets and trial balance which we use to send and import file in word and excel etc. HTML format is good. We need minimum formatting in this format while using it in MS Word and MS Excel.
certain applications accept continuous data where we have defined field length. Then ASCII format is better.
For application which accept SDF and XML format these formats can be chosen.

Give a file name and the exported file is saved in the parent Tally directory on your computer. You can now use that file to import its contents into another program, send it as it is (say if it is HTML file) to a colleague or view it using a browser.

Thanks
Good Luck

How can i export tally data to excel format?

Export to Excel With new release now you would get one more options while exporting data. One added format option is Excel format. excelexport.jpgIf you export in this format then file would be saved in xls format. More over if you put Excel formating option to Yes then tally would automatically format the data in presentable format. Tally would automatically bold the headlines and main fields for you and format data in a good way. Take a look at excel snapshot of balance sheet exported from Tally.

excelexport2.jpgThe special thing here is that you can do the calculation on any amount figure or any row or column, which was earlier not possible. The only drawback which i could find was that amount figures are not right aligned which is must for numbers for easy calculation, although you can do it by selecting the amount figures and putting them right aligned.
