Colours are distorted. The screen convexes towads towards the sides, and top and bottom. The 3 main colour filters -- red, green, and blue -- do not line up with the picture image.

You have a convergence problem and nedd to replace the convergence ic's i think the part # for the generic replacement is stk392-110-there are 2 of them. you also need to replace( check 1st with an ohmeter) the 4 fuses associated with the power supply going to the convergence ic's-they are solder in fuses and you have to know the value to put in the correct ones. unless you are a technician, i would suggest call for service ont this, but feel free to give the tech this info.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Samsung LE26R7 4BD, approx 4 years old, colour distortions

Check all of your cables on the back of the tv and your sources such as Cable,Sat box and DVD palyer to make sure they are fully inserted into the input and output connectors. Some times Component cables will work loose and you end up with a missing color. Temprature changes can affect intermittant connections. If that does work then you have a bad Main bd.

Distorted image and color

sounds like the convergence ICs have failed. Will the red and blue move in all 4 directions when you try to adjust the convergence? If not the convergence ICs are bad replace both of them also check the resistors that power the ICs as they may be open as well.
