I GOT THE BURNER IGNITOR WET WHILE CLEANING STOVE...IT KEEPS CLICKING...WHAT DO I DO

Hi davemoo2, I would make sure that the all the burners are put together correctly .. next check to see if a selector switch may be pushed in or shorted . also check the that the ingitors are know grounded out.. let me know what you find out... kraxytech

Here is a tip that I wrote that will help figure out why the burner spark keepson clicking...

Take a hair dryer and dry the spark switches located on the end of each gas valve.
Sometimes when cleaning they get wet and do the clicking thing.
If that does not correct the problem you will have to replace the bad switch.

If your ignitors on the burners continue to click after cleaning it is because they are wet. The spark module is not sensing the flame is on therefore still telling it to click. Just leave all burners on high for 20 minutes until they dry out and stop clicking. The clicking is not dangerous. Just annoying. If they continue to click you may have some grease residue or cleaning residue on the ignitors. Take a piece of sandpaper, nail filer and file the tips of the ignitors where it has metal above the porcelain white part. Good luck.

Apparently there was a water spill around the burner control knob and in the burner itself; We ran the burner to create heat and then turned it off and let the water dry out and evaporate from the burner and igniter area.

If they ignitors worked properly before you aunt cleaned them, the problem could be with the way they were cleaned and what they were cleaned with. Please tell me how she cleaned them and with what. Also, had she cleaned them before without incurring any problems, or was this the first time she had cleaned them?
