Question about Light Outboard Motor Boat Bass Fishing Saltwater Base

I need to change the incandescence candles of my two stroke outbord motor, 40hp, about 20years old. I don't know the reference, may be NGK B7HS ?.

They are called Spark plugs.Look at the letters and numbers on the white part of the 'Spark plug'.The 1st bit are the brand,the second bit is the heat range and length of the thread of the spark plug.If the motor used to run well.Buy the same spark plug.Hope this helps you

Hi, David, Let me know whether u need a new one or u need some more helping information about spark plug L-78.
if u need information then these are two versions of the head for the 91 series motors... one has a 1/2" reach plug thread and the other has a 3/8" reach plug thread.... if you run the wrong plug you'll have some issues so you need to determine which head you have and then find the right plug. That being said... the Auto lite AE901 or equivalent (411) is my preferred plug and you can use that plug in either head as long as you add an extra solid brass/bronze washer when using it on the head with short threads.There are conflicting cross reference charts out there, I have come to know on seeing charts that have a L78C plug crossed to an B7HS, B8HS, B9HS, and B10HS !!! I have run the B8S (the 3/8" reach version) in my older motors, like my MC20's, it is a good match. Generally I have found it easy to find Nippendenso W24FS-U, NGK B8HS, and Auto lite 411 plugs, they all work, but always check your plug after running a short session.

1 mm or .040 thou.

Hi have you tried it with the stop switchl/button disconnected, if so you have only got the stator under the flywheel left to replace, regards Phil.

My outboard motor is old and used.When I went to run it for the first time everything worked except when I went to put it in forward gear the boat went slowly but when I gave it more gas the engine just reved up but the boat wasn't going any faster.The motor is 40hp gale model.I think because it is bought used the prop is not the right one and it seems like it's slipping as I go faster.
I would appreciate any feedback on this problem.

I have a 40hp four stroke about 6 years old. It has sailed about 100 hours. The motor strarts and is running fine to about 2000 rpm. Between rpm 2000 and 3000 the engine is running badly. I'll be grateful...

Change the oil seal at the top and bottom engine and service or rebuilt your carb. Clean-up all electronic gear under the engine flywheel maybe its wet by the oil mixed.

I'm assuming that you mispelled and set should be jet. I'm also assuming that you're at a higher altitude. That could mean changing jet would improve performance. Changing your original propeller which was designed for sea level could also help. I know that my 115 horse Merc could only get up to 4200 rpm with the factory prop that was 17 degree prop. I changed to a 15 degree and got to 5200 rpm and a 13 degree got me to 6000 rpm. It's a little expensive but to get to optimal performance for your motor you'll probably need to change jets and prop.
